The time is 17:34pm on a wednesday. Birds are singing, flowers coming into bloom, and the people of earth are somewhat thriving for the time being? It is the kofun period and it is the middle of spring, the the yamato clan have just had a new heir rise up the ranks and become ruler. And the citizens of japan are beginning to adopt a more vegetated diet.
off in the middle of the woods, a boy and his mother are picking vegetables to use for dinner. the boy's name is Yamiko kuroda, and his mother, Eimy Kuroda.
Yamiko: "Mother, We have been out here for ages now, My arms ache, can we go back now please?"
He asked, his arms tired and audibly yawning. His mother responded with silence, Yet even still he knew that meant they still had to be out a little longer, ever since the new heir was elected as ruler, things got alot stricter. People of high class were to be shrouded in praise in all sorts of forms, whereas farmers like yamiko weren't treated the same.
hours pass, and the boy grows impatient.
Yamiko: "We have been out here for 7 hours now, and we still can only pick out beets. we have enough."
Eimy: "If we want to live for another 6 months, we need to keep at it Yamiko. We can't go back with too little."
Yamiko: "and why is it that we always make beets anyway, why do we never have anything else, There are carrots we could use, apples and so on so forth."
Eimy: "That's enough. Stay silent now. Else you wont get a single thing."
The boy tuts, and grits hus teeth, yet doesnt say another word and continues, after a few more short minutes, they finish, and begin to head home. On the way, the boy spots a few pigs. Normally seeing animals doesnt have him spark up any curiosity, but his hunger was growing day by day, as was his curiousness. The pig, fatter, meatier looking than most animals he had seen, if cooked, would it be tender? Moist? Would it taste good if roasted? He chose not to ask on it.
they arrive home. Yamiko's father is still not back from his trip, he is apart of the military for the yamato clan. Yet he is not paid much, nor does he have a very important role, he merely makes trades for the current yamato ruler that they require him to make, Because of this, He is often home very late and never gets to see his son or wife.
4 years pass, Yamiko is now 15, and has been going to get education in odd areas around his hometown, all sorts of people educating him on all sorts of different things, with one main one in particular.
an old lady he visists has been informing him about the knowledge she holds about a mysterious creature she has been seeing at night. Ofcourse, nobody believed her ramblings, but The boy felt obligated to hear her out. It could be worth knowing.Lady: "It was large... sharp teeth, and I could vaguely make it out for what it was, it was hunched over. I could feel it watching me..."
