Becoming a Hero

I am so sorry! I was gone for so long! It's because my dad found out that I'm trans. I managed to convince him that I am "over it" so he won't tell anyone in my family. If I disappear again it isn't because I am dropping this fic but just because I don't have access to the internet. I also had to reread my own fic so I could update. The amount of cringe I felt. I feel like I should have waited to introduce Gon. Anyway without further ado here is the next chapter.

Most of the fights were so emotional. In a different way than fights in their world were emotional. It wasn't that they were more emotional, but these students weren't fighting for their lives they were fighting to prove themselves as capable aspiring heroes. 

Their frustration and desperation stemmed from wanting to prove themselves as the best, it did not stem from wanting to survive or save a life, and yet there was a similarity there. They all wanted to improve and grow stronger. 

It was strange to see these emotions and these fights without having to worry about who would survive. It made Killua start to think about their world. Being strong was important and improving was important, but these students were training to protect the weak. Hunters trained just to grow stronger for their own desires, and those didn't always line up with what was considered to be right. 

This world was strange. It was different from what Killua was used to. He kept looking for the similarities and differences in how things were done here. The ways their world was better or worse. He didn't usually think of these types of things. 

He watched Midoriya and Todoroki fight. They were yelling and there was suddenly fire. All around Killua people were gasping, leaning back or forward to get a better look. Gon was watching the fight, excited. Killua could tell that he wanted to be down there where the action was. Their fights had ended rather quickly. They had given their opponents a chance to show off at the very least. Gon was still a little in the mind set he got during fights and watching other fight was just making him want to do something instead of watching. He still cheered when one of the boys did something particularly impressive.

Killua turned back to the fight. There was a blur of movement on the edge of the arena. Barely noticeable but Killua was instantly looking for the cause of it. It wasn't very likely that someone had managed to get down there without alerting anyone. In fact it wasn't just unlikely, it was practically impossible unless someone used a quick? Was it those people who attacked them before?

The fight ended without Killua noticing. Midoriya was unconscious it seemed and Todoroki looked a little shocked. Before the winner was announced someone walked onto the arena. They were clearly visible to the audience now. 

Killua stared dumbfounded. Was that Hisoka?! Gon was staring too, wide eyed with shock. As the shock wore off a feeling of dread grew. It was visible on both of the boy's faces. The audience was completely silent. They were confused. Todoroki stared at Hisoka. He didn't move even as Hisoka moved to stand in the middle of the arena. 

"Well this was very disappointing. I had hoped there would be actual strong opponents here," Hisoka said. He sounded genuinely disappointed. People started to move at his words. Strangely enough it wasn't out of panic. They got out their phones expecting to see some kind of entertainment. After all every time a villain attacked before there were always heroes to apprehend them. There were so many heroes now that this guy would be dealt with quickly and the festival would continue as planned.

Endeavor, who had been watching on the sidelines, moved as well as Midnight. Hisoka watched them with amusement. Todoroki still looked unsure of what to do. Midoriya had already been taken to the nurse.

"There's nothing to fear! The villain will be dealt with quickly! Everyone please remain calm!" Present Mic announced confirming the audience's belief that they were safe. There was really no need to tell them to be calm.
