Chapter 3: Bonding a Chain

Saturday came, Wolf was finishing his saturday shift that ends earlier than other days, it was one hour to 8, Wolf was getting ready to leave

🐈‍⬛Panther: Are you sure you don't want any food before you leave?
🐺Wolf: Stop worrying so much, if i get hungry i'll just hit a restaurant
🐈‍⬛Panther: Alright, if you insist
🐺Wolf: Make sure Leon doesn't think about spying on me while i'm out
🐈‍⬛Panther: He won't even get out the door while i'm around
🐺Wolf: Thanks, I don't know when i'll be back just so you know
🐈‍⬛Panther: I wouldn't mind if you didn't come back till midnight, i'll keep Leon here, even if he wants to leave I'm not letting him go alone
🐺Wolf: At this point I think he's willing to invade my privacy
🐈‍⬛Panther: Not me, i'm respecting my friends privacy, like Krystal does
🐺Wolf: she still better not have picked up anything embarrassing about me during the time she was in star wolf, otherwise i'll snap her neck
🐈‍⬛Panther: if we somehow see her again, i'll be sure she won't
🐺Wolf: Gotta go now, see ya guys when I get back
🐈‍⬛Panther: See ya, Wolf

Wolf left the apartment and felt his phone rumble, he checked the screen to see that Fox had sent a text

"I'll be picking you up at Corneria City Park"

Wolf walked to the city park and waited for Fox, soon Fox pulled up in a sleek charcoal-colored car, Fox lowered the passenger seat window

🐺Wolf: Nice ride
🦊Fox: Thanks, hop in

Wolf gets in the car and the two drive off

🦊Fox: So where's the barbecue place at?
🐺Wolf: I'll pull up my LylatNav App and type the address

For about 20 minutes of navigating, they arrive at one of the far sides of Corneria City that was nearly on the verge of touching the outskirts, they pull into the parking lot, the two canids enter the front door and meet a Coyote waiter

Coyote-Waiter: Good evening, guys, table for two?
🐺Wolf: Yes, just us two
Coyote-Waiter: Right this way

Fox and Wolf follow their waiter to a table near a window

Coyote-Waiter: Here are your menus, I'll check back in a few minutes

🦊Fox: You know what you wanna get?
🐺Wolf: I was thinking of getting the dinner for two special and split it
🦊Fox: That's it?
🐺Wolf: Maybe have it smoke-cooked to a crisp
🦊Fox: Pretty daring I see
🐺Wolf: I'm as daring as my earlier days of being a mercenary
🦊Fox: Always ready for toughness, huh?
🐺Wolf: Pretty much

a couple of minutes later the waiter came back

Coyote-Waiter: Have you decided what you want?
🐺Wolf: Yes, we'll be having the "dinner for 2" special and have it smoked to a crisp
Coyote-Waiter: nd what will you guys be drinking?
🦊Fox: I'll have just a Corneria Cola
🐺Wolf: Me too
Coyote-Waiter: Alright, i'll be back with your drinks

*the coyote waiter leaves to get Fox & Wolf's drinks*

🦊Fox: You like Corneria Cola?
🐺Wolf: It was a top favorite drink when I was younger, though that was before I worked for Andross, these days i'm into strong and heavy stuff
🦊Fox: I figured you're the type of guy to want to have strong stuff, don't they have anything strong here?
🐺Wolf: They do
🦊Fox: Why didn't you pick a strong drink then?
🐺Wolf: Cuz I'm taking it easy for now, I don't want Panther & Leon getting suspicious about us hanging, If I were to come home drunk, Leon would most definitely take advantage of my drunken state to get answers out of me
🦊Fox: Guess you'd have to be really careful around Leon, if I had the right to assume, I'd say he's a total snitch
🐺Wolf: I wouldn't disagree with you there, I'd assume Falco would be willing to snitch on anyone, even his closest of friends
🦊Fox: I think Krystal would dare do the same if she were to find out about us hanging out. Good thing she rarely reads everyone's minds these days
🐺Wolf: Does that mean she could get dirt on anyone?
🦊Fox: I think so. I would have to avoid any in-person contact with her just to make sure she doesn't pick up anything from my mind or try to figure out how to mind block telepaths
🐺Wolf: Assuming it's possible, it would make her get insane not being able to obtain any information
🦊Fox: I bet she'd tear off her own hair in frustration

Coyote-Waiter: Here's your drinks, guys
🦊Fox: Thanks
Coyote-Waiter: Your dinner for two will be ready shortly

🦊Fox: So what do you wanna do after this?
🐺Wolf: I haven't really made any plans for after, what do you wanna do?
🦊Fox: I was thinking maybe we could do some stuff together, like explore the city, a physical walk down memory lane, or many some activities
🐺Wolf: You know what? That actually sounds fun
Coyote-Waiter: Your dinner for 2 is ready
🦝Wolf: Thanks
Coyote-Waiter: If you need anything else let me know

Fox & Wolf start eating their dinner for two, seeming to have a great time being together. A pair of mercenary rivals who at first wanted nothing more than to kill each other now enjoying each other's company and not showing any hostility. About half an hour passed still chatting about their lives after they finished their dinner for two.

Coyote-Waiter: Would you guys like dessert?
🦊Fox: No thanks, I think we're good
🐺Wolf: Yeah, just bring the check
Coyote-waiter: Be right back

🐺Wolf then starts pulling out wallet and take a few bills out
🦊Fox: That won't be necessary, I can cover this
🐺Wolf: I'm the one who said the idea of coming here so I should get it
🦊Fox: I Insist, Let me take care of it
🐺Wolf: I ordered the dinner for two for both of us
🦊Fox: How about we both pay 50-50?
🐺Wolf: Deal

Soon after they both leave the restaurant ready to start doing some bonding. First they went to a popular arcade called Game Galaxy, Fox & Wolf play some action high score based games

🦊Fox: Let me get that power up!
🐺Wolf: No, I need it more!
🦊Fox: I have better abilities with it!
🐺Wolf: I figured out what I did wrong!

*Both get blasted by in-game enemies, screen displays "Game Over"*
🦊Fox: F*cking hell! They got both of us!
🐺Wolf: I would have saved us
🦊Fox: Whatever, let's try something else
🐺Wolf: Another espionage game?
🦊Fox: I think I've have enough espionage for one night
🐺Wolf: Ok then, what do you have in mind?
🦊Fox: Air hockey
🐺Wolf: Very well then

The vulpine and lupine find an air hockey table and played aggressively. Fox won a close game of 7-6.

🐺Wolf: You're surprisingly still just as aggressive as you were when we first fought
🦊Fox: You also still put up quite a fight yourself
🐺Wolf: Thanks

The two then went to a bar to participate in trivia contest the place was holding

Horse-Host: This round is Recent Lylat History. The Question is "how long ago was the Infamous Andross's first attack to Corneria?"

Fox buzzes his buzzer

🦊Fox: Exactly 9 Years ago

🐴Horse-Host: Correct. Next is "what was the celebration half a month ago in honor of?"

Wolf buzzes his buzzer

🐺Wolf: In honor of Star Fox and Star Wolf teaming up and putting an end to those anglars

🐴Horse-Host: Correct

10 mins later Fox and Wolf win the trivia game against the other participating contestants

🐴Horse-Host: Congratulations to the two clever canids. Your prizes are these 50% off cards that cut your bill totals by half when shopping at the Corneria Mall. They expire next year, so take advantage while you can.

🦊Fox: Thanks
🐺Wolf: It's been a pleasure playing tonight

The two then exit the bar ready to call it a night

🦊Fox: It's gettin' late, I think we should head back
🐺Wolf: Yeah, my roomies and I have to resume are shifts in the morning

They get in Fox's car and begin driving off

🦊Fox: Thanks for tonight, Wolf. I had a lot of fun
🐺Wolf: So did I
🦊Fox: Do you think we can hang again, same time next week?
🐺Wolf: Now that I think of it, sure. I don't see why not
🦊Fox: Yeah, for the first time in a while I felt happy
🐺Wolf: Well, that's good to know
🦊Fox: Would ya like me to drop you off?
🐺Wolf: Sure

Fox drives Wolf back to his apartment complex at Downtown Corneria City. Wolf exits the car

🦊Fox: Thanks again for tonight, Wolf
🐺Wolf: It's been a pleasure, Pup. See ya next week
🦊Fox: See ya

Wolf enters his apartment on the 5th floor, only to see Leon who was watching tv waiting for him

🦎Leon: Bout' time you got back
🐺Wolf: Ya know, you're starting to get on my nerves thinking it's okay for you to snoop in my buisness
🦎Leon: I have every right to
🐺Wolf: Guess you wouldn't mind if I did the same to you
🦎Leon: I've got nothing to hide
🐈‍⬛Panther: Leon, Stop it! If we're gonna have any chance of being regular civilians that don't have authorities or army officials chasing us, you're gonna have to not gnaw at our friendship and divide us intentionally!
🦎Leon: Fine
🐺Wolf: Thanks again, Panther
🐈‍⬛Panther: He should really learn to respect one's privacy like I do
🐺Wolf: Definitely

Fox then arrives back at his apartment on Western Main Street Avenue.

🦊Fox (Thinking): For the first time in a while someone actually made me feel happy. Maybe that's what that missing feeling I had must be about.

Fox enters his apartment and checks the news again. Headline: Star Fox & Star Wolf Team Up?

🦊Fox: Again with that?

🐁Mouse News Reporter: Since the attempted robbery of the Corneria Mall, many are lead to believe leaders of Star Fox and Star Wolf, Fox McCloud & Wolf O'Donnell could be teaming up to be a one large group mercenary team. I'd personal believe that wouldn't be a bad thing to happen. I can imagine that crimes of all kind both terrestrial and space bound could lower even further. In other news-

Fox turns off the tv

🦊Fox: Now that I think about it more... that could actually be a great Idea

back at the Downtown Complex, Wolf is reading the Corneria City Press on his phone

🐺Wolf: That could actually be good idea to keep a good reputation. Maybe I could ask Fox if we can combine our teams
