Peep groggily awoke to find a tall glass of water on his bedside table, along with a bottle of aspirin and a note.
'morning princess'
He grinned through the aches and pains and pushed himself up, swallowing the aspirin dry without water. He then chugged the entire pint, his mouth was dryer than the Sahara desert. The longer he was awake, the more certain he was that he could smell bacon. He stumbled out of bed and down the hall to find bonnie pottering about his kitchen, bacon sizzling on the stove.
He grinned. He grinned so fucking wide. He could barely even feel the comedown now, it was like his brain had simply pushed it to the side.
She was still wearing the white tee and pink basketball shorts that he vaguely remembered giving her to sleep in. Both were absolutely massive on her, the t-shirt was long enough to be a dress.
"Boo." He smiled
"Hey Peep." She didn't turn around, she was busy mixing something in a bowl, "I've stolen food from your cupboards, hope you don't mind. I thought you could do with some food anyway, and this bacon needs using up by tomorrow."
Peep could do nothing but stand and grin.
"I tell you what, I've fucking missed cooking." She carried on, "Tracy's stove doesn't even work! Idiot says there's no point fixing it."
He slumped into one of his stools, still smiling like a kid on Christmas, "You like cooking, boo?"
"I didn't think I did - but I guess I've missed it. I was head-chef back home, ever since I was a kid."
"What, your mom ain't cook?"
She laughed, now perching on the stool opposite him, "Do you think you could have cooked a meal last night?"
"Fuck no...not without burning the whole block down."
"Exactly."
"Oh." He fiddled with his hands, "What you cooking?"
"Bacon and pancakes."
He beamed, chin resting in his hand, "Thank you, boo."
"You need it. You look like you haven't eaten all damn week."
"I been snacking n' shit...I just haven't felt that hungry."
"You have to eat whether you hungry or not." She rolled her eyes, "I used to tell that to my Momma all the damn time. She's skin and bones like you. It ain't healthy."
"I know..." He mumbled, "What time is it?"
"Two." She was back to her cooking now, "I only woke up like a half hour ago. Thought I should get some food down the both of us before I head to work."
He pouted, big eyes full of sadness, "Do you have to go?"
"Yes. I can't just skip work, peep."
"Why not?"
"Cuz Im not rich like you."
"I didn't used to be." He mumbled, "What time you working?"
"Four til one. I'm not closing tonight, thank fuck. Those shifts drag like hell."
"I bet they do."
"Right," she smiled, placing a plate in front of him, "You got syrup in these cupboards?"
He nodded, getting to his feet and rumaging through his near-empty kitchen. "Found it," he smiled, setting it down in front of her.
"Nice crib you got here." She commented.
