Chapter 10:
7 Years Later
Shane’s POV
I rubbed my eyes and hid under the blanket from the blazing sunshine. It was March, why was it so bright? I looked to my left. I got out of bed and put on my boxers and took my white shirt off the floor. I looked at the time, it was 6am.
I then felt a pair of hands swarming around me.
“Hands off, I’m not single.” I said.
“You weren’t like this yesterday.” She said. I didn’t even know this chick.
“You said it, yesterday. This is today.” I got rid of her hands and got the rest of my clothes on, slipped on my watch and took my briefcase.
-
I made my way to a public bath house and got ready there
-
I got into the office and saw Joanna looking at her computer, working.
I walked to her side, “Why are there two coffees when there is only you this morning?” I said as I picked one up with my right hand, threw my briefcase into my office and took Joanna’s waist with my left hand.
“You already have it in your hand, it’s yours.” She dryly said.
I smiled back. Placing the coffee carefully down on the table and sat Joanna down on my seat. I knelt in front of her.
“I’m sorry,” I said trying to pout.
She ignored me while taking sneak peeks at my unchanging face.
“Change your expression; you use that every two days when you go out to play with girls.” She angrily said.
“I’m ssssooooooorrrryyyyyyyy Joan, you know in the end I come back to you anyway.” I batted my eye lashes and she smacked me on the head. I can’t believe I even said that to her, or for a fact – used that as an excuse.Joanna was special.
“That’s disgusting, and it’s 9am on the dot right now. Everyone should be coming in, I’m going to leave and go to my desk.” She smiled as I pinched her nose.
Whatever did I do to deserve something so precious like her? I guess I was quite the idiot for three whole years while she was always by my side through my success and failures. As she left, I couldn’t help but think back about Andrea. I think back of when she left my brother to die and I’m glad I have Joanna.
“Oh!” Joanna popped her head in, “Ryan says that your new personal assistant will arrive in tomorrow afternoon and that the head boss especially chose her for you as she was ‘perfect for the job’.”
“Describe her appearance or his words are invalid, you’re the perfect one.”
She shyly smiled, “I don’t know… he didn’t tell me. Well, get to work – you’re going to be busy today!” She popped her head back out and I sat in my seat.
New personal assistant, hopefully you’re up to par.
---End of POV
I took in a long breath of South Korean air. My first time coming to Korea and it’s for a job – a long term one if it works out well. Good pay as well.
“Hey, Travis – Maybe because I haven’t been here before… or maybe I have but I don’t remember, it doesn’t feel familiar to me.” I asked Travis as we walked out to find Dr. Kim, well – Jason as he preferred us to call him.
“I don’t think you’ve come to the airport before your accidents, it’s your first since then, oh wait – no it’s not. You came to Seoul from Gimpo airport in early July 2003, this is Incheon. ”
