Chapter 21:
Ryan sobbed on my shoulders. I continuously asked him what was wrong but he didn’t say anything. I eventually had given up.
He gradually calmed down and wiped his wet cheeks.
“I’m such a fool in love,” He said as he got up and sat in his seat.
I gave him some tissue. I didn’t really understand why he called himself that, but I could imagine who it was that he was in love with.
“Joanna?” I asked.
He kept doing his own thing but I knew I wasn’t wrong.
“I’m always an open ear, you can tell me if you want to but if you don’t – that’s alright.” I smiled before leaving the room.
Closing the door behind me, I sat at my desk and resumed working and eating my sandwich. I could hear him cleaning up the coffee I split. Oops.

The car journey home from work was quiet; Travis didn’t speak to me. It was too awkward to breathe.
We walked up the pathway to our home and realised the living room light was on. We looked at each other.
No one had keys to our house, not even Jason… he didn’t even know where the spare keys were. Moreover, if he did – he would call us first before going in. It couldn’t be a thief, right?
Silently, we both unlocked the front door and tip toed in. Making our way to the living room we saw the backside of a lady with medium length dark brown hair watching TV.
The lady turned back.
It was my mum.
She jumped up at us. “You two are finally home!” She said as she hugged us both.
“When did you get here?” Travis asked.
“Around about 5 hours ago?” She shrugged.
“How did you get in?” I questioned.
“I knew Travis would put out spare keys somewhere in the front garden for you so I dug around and found them!” She pulled out the spare keys.
I mentally slapped myself and rolled my eyes.
“So, why is this wedding going to be small?” She furrowed her eyebrows.
“CIndy didn’t want to waste too much money on showy things so we cut down on that.”
“That doesn’t explain the need of only inviting family members! Not even your friends or colleagues?!” She moaned.
“I’m marrying him, not you.”
My mum kissed her teeth at me. “How typical of you, it’s not like Trvais can’t afford it! You deserve the best, you do – Princess! You both do!” She said as she squished my cheeks.
I wanted to throw her out the house for that comment but she doesn’t know the full story.
“We don’t have a spare bedroom for you, Mum. Are you going to stay at the hotel close by or something?”
“No! Travis’s going to sleep on the sofa, I’m sleeping in your bed with you Andrea.!” She squealed.
I was not going to sleep with my mum. She snored.
“No, I’ll sleep with him out here – you can have the bed to yourself.”

SHane’s POV
I returned to the empty house. Undoing my tie I walked into the kitchen, not to find my mum. I looked at the note on the fridge.
‘I felt like visiting your dad, I’ll be gone for a while. I’ll probably stay for a month or two; it’s been a while since I’ve visited. I will be back on the day of the wedding though! Just that I will return so you and Joanna can have some personal space’
My dad died 4 years ago. Till now, I don’t think my mum has gotten over it. No matter how joyful she seemed.
Flashback
“Shane Martinez! You are one of the worst liars out there! How many years has it been that you’ve been telling me you’re fine when you’re obviously not? How much times have I been saying what I’m saying right now? Even I’m sick of it!” Joannashouted at me.
“I didn’t ask you to bother about me though did I? You were just nosy!” I shouted before walking off from her. I didn’t look left or right and crossed the road. I heard a loud beep and Taeyeon hauled my right arm and I landed on the floor with her below me as a van quickly drove past.
End of Flashback.
Today’s Joanna was someone that I created. Was I destined to be single forever? Because I know for sure I am not meant to be with Joanna.
No! I shouldn’t let Joanna bring my spirits of being with Andrea down. There’s only andrea, there’s no option and even if there was – Joanna was not an option. She deserves anything but me. To me, Andrea isn’t a want – she is now a need.
