Felix Ryzcon stood in front of the mirror, adjusting his oversized glasses and pulling the sleeves of his plaid shirt down over his arms. The transformation was stark: from the dazzling star of The Marathons, a band that once filled stadiums, to a low-key nerd trying to blend into the crowded hallways of Riverdale University. His two older brothers, Nicolai and Clarkson, had embraced their newfound fame as models and beauty ambassadors, respectively, but Felix had opted for a different path—a disguise.
A family scandal had sent the trio crashing down from their pop star universe into the mundane reality of College, and while Nicolai and Clarkson thrived in their popularity, Felix felt like a ghost. He was determined to embrace anonymity, even if it meant donning the guise of a nerd.
"Felix! You ready?" Nicolai called from downstairs, his voice dripping with casual confidence.
"Almost!" Felix shouted back, trying to ignore the knot forming in his stomach.
Nicolai, with his chiseled jawline and perfect hair, was the quintessential hot model. Clarkson, on the other hand, was the embodiment of charm, gracing the covers of beauty magazines with his dazzling smile. Felix often wondered if he had been switched at birth with a bookish librarian.
As he made his way downstairs, he caught a glimpse of Nicolai posing in front of the mirror, adjusting his collar.
"Looking good, bro!" Nicolai winked.
"Thanks, I guess," Felix mumbled, trying to avoid eye contact.
"Come on, lighten up! We're now in college! Enjoy it!"
Clarkson added, tossing a hair flip that would make any shampoo commercial jealous.
Felix rolled his eyes.
"You guys are the worst."
Once at school, Felix slipped into the familiar chaos of Riverdale University. It was almost comforting—the clamor of lockers slamming, the chatter of students, and the scent of cafeteria mystery meat wafting through the air.
"Hey, nerd!" a voice called out. It was Kendall, one of his classmates, who always had a knack for teasing.
"Hey, Kendall," Felix replied, trying to sound nonchalant.
"Still rocking that nerd vibe, huh?" Kendall smirked.
Felix shrugged. "What can I say? Nerds are in."
"Sure, if by 'in,' you mean 'totally invisible.'"
As they walked to class, Felix spotted Cassie, the reigning queen of popularity, surrounded by her entourage. She was the type of girl who could stop traffic with a smile, and Felix couldn't help but feel a pang of envy.
"Look! It's Felix the Nerd!" Cassie laughed, her laughter ringing like a bell.
Felix's heart raced. "Great, just what I need," he muttered under his breath.
Later that day, Felix found himself cornered by Cassie after class.
"So, nerd, I need your help."
"Help? With what?" Felix asked, trying to maintain his cool.
"Science project. I heard you're brilliant at this stuff. If you help me, I won't tell anyone who you really are." Her eyes sparkled with mischief.
Felix felt a wave of panic. "Uh, how about no?"
"Come on! Think of it as a partnership. You do my project, and I keep your secret," she said, crossing her arms.
"What secret??" He nervously asked.
