Chapter 8

General's pov
About three days had passed since the last shift and today they where back at the firehouse for another shift, most of the guys was having out in the common room. Mouch was sitting in his usual spot which is on the couch, Casey noticed that Mouch was reading something so he walked over to the couch to check it out.

Matt - why the hell are you studying Japanese?
Mouch - I read online that once you turn 50, your brain starts to atrophy unless you keep it in shape.
Gabby - I think that train's already left the station, Mouch.

Cruz was sitting right next to Mouch on the couch and he had been watching over Mouch's shoulder to look at the book in Mouch's hands.

Cruz - say something in Japanese.
Mouch - I just started.

Casey was now standing my the coffee maker to pour himself another cup of coffee, Peter mills was standing next to Casey.

Mills - hey, uh, where's Herrmann?
Matt - Tony Robbin's seminar?

Vanessa was sitting by the table next to Otis and she was eating her breakfast, she was looking down at her bowl and she was trying to not look at her husband especially since they haven't spoken today with each other.

Otis - I got 20 bucks says in two weeks, you won't be able to string along a sentence.
Mouch - easiest money I ever made.
Otis - done. What's today?
Gabby - um, 29th.

Matt - ah, damn it.
Gabby - everything all right?
Matt - yeah. No, I just forget something.

Vanessa knew what was up with Casey, and he knew as well that he didn't want everyone to know what was so special with the 29th.
Chief Boden walked in to the common room with two men next to him that was dressed in navy blue CFD clothes.

Boden - hey, everybody. We have the pleasure of hosting a couple of visiting firefighters again. This is Gavin and Presley.

He was pointing at the men who he had on both sides.

Boden - they will be observing over the next couple of shifts. Lieutenant Casey, lieutenant Severide, PIC Vanessa, and.....the rest of knuckleheads.

After Boden had introduced the two guys for the firehouse he stepped to the side so that the new guys could introduce them self a little better.

Gavin - hey, guys, thanks so much for allowing us to be here. And let us know if there's anything we can do to help out.
Mouch - whoa, whoa, whoa.was that a Canadian "out" I heard?
Gavin - Yes, sir. Toronto.
Presley - We both just finished our probationary period.
Mouch - you know what?

Cruz was watching as Mouch put his book down and got up from the couch.

Mouch - uh, welcome aboard, guys. No offense, but someone else will have to give you the tour, cause it ain't gonna be me.

Everyone was watching as Mouch walked out of the room and instead he walked in to the briefing room, they were all wondering what was going on.

Casey - ignore him.

Gabby and Vanessa were looking at each other and they started to laugh a little, Mouch could be sometimes really weird.

The bells went off and everyone stayed quiet and still for a few seconds.
