Megan nestled in a corner of the indoor pool, basking in the warmth of the sun filtering through the glass ceiling. In her tiny frog form, she felt safe and at peace, her soft, green skin glistening as she drifted into a gentle sleep. The water lapped quietly around her, creating a serene atmosphere.
Suddenly, the door swung open, and her older sister Sarah entered, a bright smile lighting up her face. She spotted the tiny frog and bent down, scooping Megan into her hands with delicate care. "Hey there, little froggie!" she said playfully. "I hope you're ready for some excitement because I invited the Pogues over for a hangout. I could really use your help!"
Megan blinked her large, round eyes, feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension. She knew she would have to transform back into her human form to assist Sarah, and the thought of being around John B again made her heart flutter—both from fear and anticipation. She doesn't know what to make of it but knows she will help out.
With a little concentration, Megan poofed back into her human form, her adorable pink and red dress fluttering as she stood before her sister. "What do you need me to do?" she asked, her voice a mix of eagerness and nervousness.
"Just help me set up some snacks and drinks in the living room," Sarah replied, leading Megan to the kitchen. As they prepared, Megan busily arranged platters of cookies, chips, and drinks, her cute and bubbly personality shining through. She couldn't help but smile and giggle, feeling a sense of normalcy despite her secret.
"Perfect! Now let's head to the living room," Sarah said, and together they moved toward the sound of laughter echoing from the other room. But as they approached, Megan's heart raced; she heard footsteps and voices coming closer.
In a flash, she transformed back into her frog form, hopping away cutely and adorably to find a hiding spot behind a potted plant. She peered out her little heart racing, hoping to stay unnoticed as the Pogues entered.
"Hey, where's Megan?" Kie asked, looking around with a curious expression.
"Probably hiding somewhere, being her usual shy self," Sarah replied with a chuckle.
John B entered last, his expression distant, as if he were lost in thought. He looked around, searching for something—or someone—he couldn't quite identify. The energy in the room buzzed with excitement, but he felt a nagging emptiness as if a piece of himself was missing.
"Did anyone see that girl I danced with at the party?" he suddenly blurted out, his tone more curious than desperate. "I can't stop thinking about her. It's like she vanished."
Megan's little heart sank, but she couldn't resist the urge to listen in, her tiny form hidden just enough to remain unnoticed. The other Pogues began asking questions about the mysterious girl, their voices filled with curiosity. She wondered what John B. was thinking when it came to her.
"Was she cute?" JJ chimed in with a smirk. "Did you kiss her?"
John B sighed, rubbing the back of his neck in frustration. "Yeah, she was cute. I don't know... it's just like she slipped through my fingers."
Megan's breath caught in her throat. She longed to reveal herself, to tell him she was right there, but she knew she had to stay hidden. The warmth of their earlier connection tugged at her heart, making her feel both elated and heartbroken. She would dream of something more when it came to him and wonder where their fate lies.
As the conversation continued, she watched John B laugh and joke with his friends, a bittersweet smile gracing her lips. At that moment, she realized that no matter how much she wanted to be with him, the fear of her secret being revealed kept her safely tucked away in the shadows.
