~A Good Love Story~ [an Uprising AU Jella fic]

12-29-1911 (after work) -Bellas POV-

Work was busy today. So many shirtwaists went through the machines, and my fingers were sore.
When I got home, I finally had time to relax. I picked up my most recent gift from Jane, a small English children's book. While I'm stuck on a few words, it's not too hard. It's a nice book about love and kind gestures and all the nice things in life. It made me long for love, made me long for someone to hold, and made me long for someone to live for...
I hear a thud, and my held jolts up from my book.
I look around the room, hoping nothing fell and broke.
But all I see is Jane.
I drop the book on the ground and rush over to her.
"Jane! Caro Dio, per favore lasciala stare bene!"
I shout her name and mumble a prayer as I take a knee next to her
"Jane? Jane?! Are you alright?" I cried out. I didn't know what to do, how to help, or anything at all. I felt helpless. But I already lost Yetta. I can't lose Jane, too.
I gently grab her shoulders and shake her, trying to get a response. Finally, she awnsers.
"Y-yeah, I'm okay. Don't worry about me.."
She mumbled, a smile on her face somehow.
"Don't worry?! How can I not worry! I just saw you colapse on the floor. You'd be worried if that happened to me!"
I mumble curses under my breath, but they aren't directed at Jane. They're twords me. I'm so mad I can't do anything to help, until she speaks up again.
"Bella, really, I'm fine. I haven't eaten in a while, is all."
She... hasn't eaten? But we had breakfast just today?
Without a second thought, I picked her up, which wasn't very hard, surprisingly. For as weak as I am, she was very light.
Maybe she hadn't been eating...
I place her down in one of our chairs and grab some bread from the cabinet. I don't remember us having this much food, but I won't complain.
I sit down beside her and decide to pry a bit deeper, trying to understand what was going on.
