Narrator's Pov
Barry waited for Zack to leave the classroom before leaving and going home. Zack closed the door as he left while Barry looked towards the classroom door.
The room was empty and silent. Barry could only hear echoes coming from the hallway. It was so silent that Barry could hear the sound of his own breathing.
Barry put his bag on his back and started walking towards the door of his classroom. He could hear his shoes making noise as the soles hit the beige floors. Barry grabbed the door handle, which was so clean it looked like a mirror. He could see his reflection in it and realized that the door had been painted with a layer of varnish the day before, as the smell was still very fresh.
Barry turned the doorknob and opened the door and looked to see if Zack had left yet. Zack had pulled down Parker's shorts. Parker was annoyed, staring deep into Zack's eyes while Zack and his friends smiled. Zack was twice as tall as Parker and much stronger, to the point that Parker looked like a dwarf next to him. Trevis, who had a mocking smile from one corner of his face to the other, pointed towards Barry, who was spying on them. Before Zack looked towards the door where Barry was. The hyena closed the door, wishing that Zack and his friends would go away and leave him alone. Barry sat on the floor, still with his backpack on his back. He sighed, feeling a sense of boredom and importance. He was disappointed with that school. He wished he could defend himself and help Parker, but he didn't have the strength to do so. The silence of that room, its beige floors and its white walls with fresh paint mixed with varnish and cleaning products on the tables and desks made that place seem a little strange to Barry. It was strange that deafening silence made the place look like a Backroom.
The noises in the hallway echoed inside the empty room making strange noises that were soon followed by a deathly silence and the hyena could hear the sound of his breathing and his heart beating.
The hyena took a deep breath and let it out like steam. His cell phone was in his pocket and he took it out of his pocket to check the time. He got up from the floor again and went to the door and opened it slowly. There was no sign of Zack and his friends. He left there and began walking slowly down the hallway and heading towards the school entrance as if he was afraid that Zack would appear at any moment.
Lars was sitting on a bench near the gardens in front of the school while eating a sandwich and reading a comic. Lars saw Barry come out through the glass door and raised his ears looking at him. Barry saw Lars chewing with his mouth full of sandwich and lowered his ears thinking that Lars might do something to him. Lars was left without understanding anything as he saw the hyena keep its ears and head down and walk away.
Lars watched Barry slowly walk away while he finished eating his sandwich.
Barry walked with his head down as he took a deep breath and sighed. He thought about asking his father to take him out of that school, but at the same time he thought that it wouldn't be good to do that, not after he had spent three years dreaming of being there. The school was good, but only Zack and his friends were ruining everything. He felt down and sad about the way he was being treated. It was as if he felt he had no value and that Zack and his friends could do whatever they wanted to him and he couldn't do anything to defend himself.
