Meanwhile....

Carmine swung from door to door.

"Hang on, Lamenta!"

Unlike the other girls, Lamenta seemed terrified to fight back against Hemlock. Hemlock held the girl tightly, but Carmine was determined to catch up to them.

Hemlock, however, took on his bat form and began carrying Lamenta deeper into the warehouse, the child screaming, which made some of the lights on doors flash.

Carmine groaned; there was no way he could swing across the doors fast or far enough to catch up to them. It was then that Carmine spotted someone green flying by.

"Emeraldi! I need a ride!"

Emerald flew closer to Carmine, allowing the latter to leap onto her back so they could pursue Hemlock and rescue Lamenta.

Lamenta cried and struggled as Hemlock continued to fly through the warehouse until he made his way to another door, into which Carmine and Emeraldi followed him.

Hemlock reverted to human form and hissed at the two rescuers as he threatened to bite the child.

"Leave her alone!" Carmine said.

"One more step, and there will be blood."

Lamenta cried again, pleaing for help.

"Daddy, help me!" Lamenta whimpered.

"Quiet, you little brat." Hemlock hissed at the girl, making her cry even more.

If Carmine didn't look steamed before, he definitely was now. No one made his little lamb cry and got away with it.

"I said, let her... GO!"

Carmine took a big breath and sang a shriek in high C, one of the highest notes there is. That made Hemlock release Lamenta to cover his ears, seeing as vampires, being part bat, hated high-pitched noises. Lamenta covered her ears too and took the chance to get away from Hemlock. But it wasn't just everyone's eardrums that were about to break.

Carmine shrieked so high so loudly it shattered the window in the kid's room. Fortunately, whoever lived there didn't appear to be home. Nevertheless, the window was broken, and the sun was rising outside. And Hemlock being a sun sensitive vampire... that wasn't good for him.

The shone on Hemlock, who hissed a great deal of pain and Carmine had to cover Lamenta's eyes from what happened next.

Hemlock quickly turned to dust and was blown away.

"I thought that only happened in human horror movies," gasped Emeraldi.

"You and me both." Carmine said, equally surprised.

Lamenta, on the other hand, was crying, still scared by what happened, prompting Carmine to take her into his arms and gently pat her on the back.

"Shh. It's okay, little one. Don't cry. Daddy's here now."

Lamenta hid her face in Carmine's chest.

"We're getting you out of here."

Carmine carried Lamenta as he climbed onto Emeraldi's back and took off.

Emeraldi flew through the warehouse and met up with Comedia, Anakin, and the other little girls.

"I don't think Hemlock's gonna be experimenting on anyone anymore." Carmine said.

"Neither will Mokko or Dar." Anakin said.
