As Travis and his mother finished stretching, he fought to keep his composure, doing his best to maintain focus. The positions they held were a real test of his self-control. Once they were done, they moved on to their workout, exercising together in sync.

An hour passed, and their session came to an end. Travis sat down on the bench, catching his breath. He could've kept going, but he didn't want to draw any suspicion.

'Unlocking my Internal Energy was the best decision I've ever made,' he thought. 'My energy grows every minute. It's slower than my peak, but I just need a real fight to push me even further.'

He glanced over at his mom, Evelyn, as she wiped the sweat from her forehead. Remembering that she was once a hunter, a knowing smile formed on his face.

"Hey Mom, you mind sparring with me?" Travis asked, standing up and walking over to her.

Evelyn looked up, her brow furrowed in mild confusion. "Spar? Like a real fight? Sorry, son, I don't think I'm ready to jump back into that just yet. Maybe after some more training, we can."

"Is something holding you back?" Travis asked, his tone genuinely curious.

Evelyn sighed, pausing for a moment before she stood up. "Alright, let's go outside. I'll show you."

They left the basement and stepped into the backyard. The open space was perfect for a sparring match.

" Where did the trees go?" She asked looking around in confusion. She then turned back to Travis who was looking down awkwardly.

' Man I forgot about that' He thought.

Evelyn positioned herself in the middle of the field.  Travis stayed at a safe distance, just as she requested.

Evelyn clenched her hand into a tight fist, her muscles tensing as the air around her seemed to vibrate with energy.

*Crack.*

A sharp noise pierced the silence as a crack materialized in the air where her hand hovered, like the very fabric of reality itself was breaking under the pressure.

Travis watched, wide-eyed, as his mother raised her fist with deliberate, controlled force. In an instant, she unleashed a devastating punch, her fist cutting through the air with raw power.

*Crack.*

The sound was louder this time, more intense. The crack in the air expanded like a spider web of destruction.

*Crash.*

An invisible force exploded outward, shaking the ground beneath them as if the sky itself had been torn apart. Dust swirled in the wake of her power, and the sheer energy of her strike echoed through the backyard.

'She broke reality?' Travis thought, his heart pounding in his chest. 'No... she didn't break reality itself. The air cracked under her ability.  She must have been an incredibly powerful hunter to do that.'

He watched as the air seemed to shimmer where the cracks once were, the raw force of her punch leaving an invisible mark. He couldn't believe the sheer power his mother still held, even after retiring from her days as a hunter.

Evelyn walked back over to Travis, her expression softening. "I can't really control this ability all that well anymore," she admitted. "It's been a long time since I've used it. But as you saw, if we fought, you'd be on the receiving end of something like that."

Travis gave a small nod, a grin creeping onto his face. "Yeah, pretty cool ability. I get it. Looks like I'll just have to find someone else to spar with."

Evelyn smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry, but once I regain full control, I promise we'll spar. For now, though, I'm sweaty and exhausted. Let's go take a bath."

"Should we take one together?" Travis asked, a sly smile on his face.

Evelyn blinked, momentarily caught off guard. Seeing how serious he appeared, her face flushed as she pouted, "Don't tease your mother like that," she said in a playful yet flustered tone.

Travis chuckled, unable to hold back his laughter. "I couldn't resist," he admitted, still amused as they both made their way inside.

....

After taking a bath, Travis was tasked with walking Maya and her friends to the bus stop just down the street. His mother had requested it, so there was no room to refuse.

As they strolled down the quiet street, the girls chatted away, but Travis remained distant, his thoughts elsewhere. His gaze drifted upwards to the night sky, and with his enhanced vision, he zoomed in on the stars. The shimmering points of light became clearer, revealing the intricate beauty of the cosmos. For a moment, the world around him faded as he focused on the serene, distant glow above.

'I remember when I could look at the edge of the universe with my eyes. Man, I hate getting nerfed,' he thought, a mix of frustration and nostalgia flickering in his chest.

He let out a quiet sigh, lowering his gaze back to the street ahead. The simplicity of his current life felt so mundane compared to the overwhelming power he once wielded. Yet, here he was, escorting his sister and her friends like an ordinary teenager, his once boundless strength now just a shadow of what it had been.

When the bus pulled up and the girls boarded, Travis and Maya decided to race back home. Without breaking a sweat, Travis effortlessly won, leaving Maya behind and frowning in frustration.

"How did you get so fast in two days? Did you unlock some kind of speed ability or something?" she asked, still catching her breath as they stepped inside.

Travis grinned, flexing dramatically. "Nope, I'm just really awesome. I mean, it is surprising," he said, clearly enjoying his moment of glory.

Maya rolled her eyes, unimpressed by his boasting. "Whatever," she muttered, walking off while Travis continued flexing his newly toned muscles, grinning at his reflection.

'I really enjoy having a sibling. But seriously, where the hell is my big sister?' Travis thought as he headed to the kitchen to make a sandwich.

Tonight was an "every man for himself" kind of night, so he whipped up a quick dinner. Once his sandwich was ready, he took it upstairs, settling into his room. As he ate, he booted up his gaming console, letting himself get lost in the digital world, the day's events fading away in the background.
