Travis stood atop a tree branch as he looked toward the group of three on the ground. He wanted to make this as quick as possible before any of them got the chance to use their powers. He waited for them to drop their guard.
'I wonder how much time is left,' he thought. He waited and waited until he saw them slowly begin to quiet down as they dazed off.
As soon as that happened, he leaped off the tree and landed on the ground swiftly. He already had a plan on how he'd take their bands; they had them in a single bag. 'Stupid,' he thought when he saw them place them there.
He propelled himself into a sprint, forcefully shoving one of them aside. The intensity of his push proved overwhelming, thrusting the individual backward and colliding with a tree with a resounding impact. The force behind his action not only displaced the person but also resulted in a forceful collision, causing him to slam into the sturdy trunk.
*Brak*
He then got to the person who had the bag and threw a right punch. His fist phased through him, which was surprising, but he didn't have any time to process that. He took the bag from his shoulder, stepped away from him, and continued to run. The last guy stood in his way.
"You're not getting away! Ahhhhhhhhh!"
Suddenly, an ear-piercing screech burst out of his mouth. The force from the scream sent Travis flying back, crashing into a tree. He stayed against the tree as the force continued to grow stronger until it broke the tree and sent him flying into several other branches, breaking them.
*Crack*
'Good thing the suit prevents me from taking damage,' he thought. As soon as he felt the force disperse, he got on his feet and ran.
Travis ran and ran until he came upon a cave. He did not hesitate to enter it.
'I hope I got away from them. Man, I hate being so weak. If I were just stronger, this competition would be so simple,' he thought.
Travis walked deep inside the cave, soon reaching a dead end. He sighed and sat down on the ground. Opening the bag, he saw all the bands conveniently placed for him.
'I gotta hide these,' he thought. Travis looked around for a place to hide the bands, but he didn't find any. So he dug out a hole in the ground, placed them inside, and covered it up.
"Time to look for some more. I better leave my own band so that even if someone tags me, they won't get anything."
He walked out of the cave. As soon as he did, he was punched right in the face.
"Tag," the person said as he became visible to Travis. It was Gin. He smiled widely as he stared at him.
"You don't have a band on you. How smart. Why don't we have a duel? I'll duel you for all your bands, and you'll duel me for all mine."
'I gotta make sure he has bands on him,' he thought.
"Show me your bands."
Gin nodded, took them out, and placed them in front of him.
"Four bands, including mine," he said. "Where did you hide yours?" he continued.
"In the cave. I agree to the duel. Now let's begin," Travis replied. Gin smiled and immediately turned invisible.
Travis clenched his fists and moved some of his internal energy into them. He listened closely for Gin, who walked around him carefully. Travis heard where he was but acted as if he didn't, looking around aimlessly. Gin smirked.
'You're dead,' he thought.
As he approached Travis, closing the distance to merely a meter, Travis pivoted swiftly. In an unexpected burst of energy, he unleashed a formidable right punch directed at Gin's face. The impact, amplified by Travis's internal energy, surpassed the force of a typical punch. It struck Gin squarely in the face, propelling him backward. The collision with a nearby tree echoed through the surroundings as Gin crashed into it, the powerful blow leaving a lasting imprint on the unexpected encounter.
'Gotcha! You thought!!' Travis walked toward the bands and picked them up. He ran back inside the cave and retrieved the hidden bands, sure that time was about to run out. Suddenly, he was met by Nick and Jason.
"Oh, look what we have here. You managed to beat Gin. Well, that's impressive. Now, why don't you leave those bands before we get into a scuffle?" Jason said.
'He seems strong, but honestly, that doesn't matter to me at the moment. I need to stall them until the hour ends,' he thought.
"Why would I do that?" he asked, smiling confidently.
"I already said we'd get into a scuffle, and I'd rather not," Jason replied.
"Well, why would we get into a scuffle?"
"If you don't hand me those bands, we will."
"Why will we?"
"Just give me the damn bands!" Jason shouted in anger.
"Why should I?"
"That's it, I'm gonna fuck this guy up!" Jason shouted as he prepared to strike, but Nick tapped his shoulder.
"Wait, we don't know how strong he is. From the looks of it, he effortlessly beat up Gin. We should think about this," Nick said.
"*Sigh* Alright," Jason conceded.
"Hey, you're Travis, right? Since you're new and all, why don't we join forces? We'll split the money between us," Nick said, stepping forward. Travis kept his eyes on Jason as he responded.
"Nah, I'm not into teams and stuff," Travis replied.
"Yeah, but I'm sure you don't even understand why Ms. Martinez is making us play this game," Nick added.
When Travis heard that, he smirked and said with amusement, "Oh, tell me then."
Ms. Martinez, who was watching from above the cave with interest, thought, 'This will be interesting.'
