THIRD PERSON POV
It was a bright Sunday morning. At this time most people would be asleep, but Glimmer Belcourt was at her desk, studying for a test. Glimmer was what most people would call an overachiever. Perfect grades, flawless beauty, party girl, although she was taken.
Slamming her book on her desk, she decided to review the last session. As she opened the book and grabbed her pen, Glimmer's phone buzzed. Annoyed, Glimmer quickly checked her notifications. Three missed messages and a missed call from Marvel. She sighed, and opened her chat with Marvel.
Marvel: Hey Glimmer!
Marvel: READ MY MESSAGES!
Marvel: I'm not joking!
Server - User 'Marvel' has called you.
Glimmer: What, Marvel? You know I'm studying at this time;
Marvel: Finally! Glim, you have to check Gossip Girl's blog!
Glimmer: I don't do drama when I'm studying.
User 'Marvel' has sent you a photo.
Glimmer looked at the photo, which was a cut from Gossip Girl's blog. The caption read 'Is our beloved C back?'. Confused, Glimmer scrolled down. Gossip Girl had wrote
"One of my sources tells me that Clove Silvers was spotted in the airport at 6am this morning today. She's even got the picture to prove it. Looks like our beloved C has finally returned to Beverly Hills after her sudden disappearance."
A photo was included underneath. Clove was wearing a short skirt. 'That was unlike Clove' was the first thing that went through Glimmer's mind. Whenever she and Clove went to parties, Clove was always the one to refuse short skirts. Had this been the only thing that Gossip Girl had shown, Glimmer might have been moderately intrigued. Nevertheless, the last two sentences caught her eye.
"Queen G better watch her back.
You know you love me, XOXO Gossip Girl."
All her blood rushed to Glimmer's head. She took deep breaths. How dare a worthless blogger tell her that she should watch her back? And because of her ex-best friend, Clove Silvers?
Marvel: Hey Glimmer, are you alive?
Glimmer: Yes Marvel, I'm alive.
Marvel: So... I guess you already know that Clove is back.
Glimmer: Duh. Why the sudden need to tell me?
Marvel: I thought you'd want to know. Since she's your best friend and all.
Glimmer: Thanks for telling me, anyway. See you at school.
Marvel: Okay. Bye.
Glimmer slammed her phone down on her desk. She was still annoyed from the post that Gossip Girl had uploaded. The part that most bothered her? No retaliation was possible, since no one knew who the blogger was, or how they knew so many secrets.
Having nothing else to do, Glimmer decided to visit her long-time friend, Peeta Mellark. She threw on a tan jacket and ripped jeans over a white t-shirt. Sneakers hastily put on, she dashed downstairs and grabbed her car keys.
Driving at full speed, she reached Peeta's house within five minutes. She banged on his door, and when somebody opened it, she ran inside without any sort of permission. "Whoa there," said an unfamiliar voice. Glimmer looked up. A boy with messy hair stood about two inches taller than her.
"Why are you so eager to get in?" he asked. "What is it, Rye?" Peeta's voice came from inside the house. "Nothing. A chick just came up and forced her way into the house," said Rye. Peeta appeared behind his brother, and his face lit up with a huge grin. "Glimmer!" he cried.
"I'm guessing you know her?" questioned Rye. Peeta nodded. "This is Glimmer," he said. "Oh!" cried Rye. "You're Glimmer? I didn't recognize you without a skirt or a dress on," he laughed. Glimmer frowned. "I outgrew them," she said.
"You can come in," said Rye. "I'll leave you two alone," he said, still laughing. Peeta led Glimmer inside to the kitchen. "What's up?" he asked. Glimmer wordlessly showed him the photo that Marvel had sent her.
Peeta read the post without any comment. After he was done, he began laughing. "Why are you laughing?" demanded Glimmer. "Clove is suddenly back, after all those years, and you suddenly have a laughing fit?" "It's not like that," said Peeta.
"Then what am I supposed to do?" said Glimmer, putting her head in her hands. "I finally rose up to the queen's place, and Clove just swoops in and takes the crown?" Peeta shook his head. "You don't understand."
"Why did guys like you in the first place?" he asked. "I don't know, you're the guy here," replied Glimmer. Peeta nodded. "Understood," he said. "From what I hear, guys like you because of your looks, and your good scores."
"So in other words, because they can brag about it?" sighed Glimmer. "So does that mean that I'm worthless?" she said. "No," said Peeta. "I meant that you could use that to your advantage," he said. "That means, you have to return to your old ways."
