"Wow! I should have come here sooner! Granger you must be richer than I am, and business is booming! I didn't know that working for muggles paid so much, maybe I should have taken muggle studies after all."
Hermione spun on her heel, her cup of tea dropping to the floor as her mouth fell open. She hadn't heard that voice for just over a year now.
"George!" She gasped running over to the ginger haired man and pulling him in for a hug. Her eyes watered as he hugged her back and spun her around.
"Now that's the kind of welcome a fella likes to get. Ickle Ronniekins reckoned that you'd hex me for just turning up. I knew you liked me better than him though," George said with a twinkle to his eyes as he released her from his crushing bear hug. "Looking good 'Mione. Whatever or whoever you're doing is working for you."
Hermione shook her head in exasperation even as she felt the blood rising to the surface of her face.
"It's so good to see you. What on earth are you doing here? Oh no, tell me you haven't tried out something irreversible on someone again?" Hermione fretted. George was like a brother to Hermione and had been since her second year of Hogwarts. Despite owling each other every couple of months he'd never been to visit her in the two years she had lived in America.
George dramatically clasped a hand to his heart as though he'd been cursed. "You wound me! As if I'd ever do something like that Granger." He ignored her cough which sounded very much like 'Fidgeting Feet'. "Actually I have come here to deliver something personally for the Brains of The Golden Trio."
Hermione looked at him suspiciously even as she ignored that ridiculous moniker. "You did?"
"I did, here. Now, Harry told me you're going out with a muggle? We added a plus one but if he doesn't know about us then... well sorry and all that but I'm not going muggle for this-" George was cut off as Hermione hugged him again, the wedding invitation he had given her still clutched in her hand. He smiled and spun her again.
"Elektra, Honey? Why are you grabbing on to another man? Is it because of the hole in the floor? Because that's totally being fixed... like now. Jarvis, have someone come and fix the hole in the laboratory floor will you?"
"Right away sir," the A.I. answered.
Hermione turned to look at Tony who had a ridiculous pout on his face that she tried really hard not to laugh at.
"Which laboratory, Tony?" She asked the thirty four year old man-child.
"Well... It's not, not yours."
"Tony!" She exclaimed her hands going to her hips, she could feel her hair start to spark as her blood pressure rose. "Why were you even in my lab? Especially after last time!"
"See, Honey, the thing is you were talking about that super hydro-"
"'Mione, is that...? Is bloody Iron Man standing in your flat?" George asked, sounding awestruck. She had momentarily forgotten about George in the face of her lab being damaged yet again.
"Technically it's my apartment, or ours, I dunno, we still haven't worked that one out yet. But we both live here, so I'm gonna go with ours," Tony said with a smile he generally used on fans. That smirk. She couldn't help the smile that slipped out at the sight. He was so arrogant and conceited, and ridiculously clever, intellectual, kind, generous, funny, annoying... She could have thought of descriptors for Tony Stark all day if she had that kind of time.
"George, this is Tony Stark, my boyfriend, Tony this is George Weasley, one of my adopted brothers. He came to invite us to his wedding," Hermione said with a wide smile. Tony hadn't met any of her family yet and other than Harry, no one knew about Tony, everyone else was just told her boyfriend was a muggle. Which he was, so in no way was she lying, or even stretching the truth as she had perhaps done in the past.
