The scene begins with Uzi sneaking aboard Y/N's ship, her curiosity getting the better of her as it usually does. She goes through the storage compartments filled with junk, her eyes, now sharp as usual, scanning over trinkets and gadgets. She stumbles upon an old, dust-vacuumed tape labeled "Christmas Memories" in Y/N's handwriting. Intrigued, she grabbed the tape and slipped it into the ship's playback device.
The screen flickers to life, showing a young Y/N surrounded by family and friends, their laughter and joy radiating through the grainy footage. The video then shows a fireplace, warm and with a lot of decorated trees, people giving each other gifts with wide smiles. The unusual traditions entrance Uzi-the light-hearted carols, twinkling lights, and concept of giving out of so many kinds of kindness in her harsh world.
As the tape plays, the rare pang of sentimentality hits Uzi. "So this is what Christmas is," she mutters to herself, her expression softening. Determined to bring some of that warmth into their bleak existence, she hatches a plan to recreate Christmas for Y/N, enlisting N and V in her chaotic scheme.~Cut to Y/N going back to his ship after a heated card game with the boys; he rubs his neck muttering that this "luck" of N's must be rigged.~
Y/N flicks the light switch, expecting to be confronted by the customary dim, barren interior. Instead, the ship shines bright with string lights, handmade ornaments hanging from the walls, and a lopsided tree made out of scrap metal and wires. A soft jingle hums from a rusty speaker in the corner.
Y/N: "Oh no. I forgot to destroy those Christmas tapes."
And before he could say another word, Uzi jumps out from behind the tree, her hat tilted mischievously.
Uzi: "Surprise! You thought you could sneak out on a holiday?"
Y/N sighs, rubbing his temples. "I thought it could just. die off. Like my planet," he mutters under his breath before adopting his usual sarcasm. "So, what's all this shiny crap?"
Uzi beams with pride as she gestures toward her work. "I thought it'd cheer you up! I don't want my N/N missing out on the best holiday ever."
Y/N histrionically groans, "Uuuuugggggggghhhhhhhhhh. Be right back, Uzi."
In an instant before she can even question him, he is already charging out the door. Outside of the ship, Y/N grasps at his head in panic. "SHIT! I HAVE TO GET THEM PRESENTS!" He Burst flight into the ruined city with barely another second to spare, frantically scanning for anything and everything gift-worthy for his make-do family: Uzi, N, V, J, Thad, M, D, Mecha, and even himself.
The night's a whirlwind of scavenging through debris, bartering with shady drones, and barely avoiding a few killer bots along the way. Y/N mutters to himself as he carries a bundle of random but slightly thoughtful items: "This better be worth it. Uzi owes me big for this."Y/N zips through the ruined city, cold air nipping at him as he desperately searches for anything remotely gift-worthy. His mind goes a mile a minute as he mutters to himself. "Alright, alright, what does Uzi even like? Chaos? Explosions? Maybe both. What about V? Probably something not sharp so she doesn't stab me later. N. Oh, God, N would probably love anything. This is impossible."
His scavenging pays off as he finds an old, slightly dented music box buried under a pile of debris. He winds it up and, after some soft, crackling, a melody fills the air. "Perfect for Uzi," he mummers, pocketing it before darting to the next spot. In another pile, he spots gleaming metal fragments. After some quick work with his plasma cutter, he fashions them into sleek, polished blades. "V's going to act like she don't care, but she gon' love these."
Next, he finds a weird collection of bow ties-up a little dusty, but in decent shape. "Yeah, this is screaming N energy," he chuckles, taking a few in different colors. A little further away, a destroyed storefront reveals a very welcome discovery: an intact, full-length mirror. Y/N whistles, impressed. "J's going to lose it over this. She'll probably thank her reflection instead of me, though."
For Thad, Y/N finds an old board game—half its pieces missing but still playable. "It's the thought that counts, right?" he says with a sigh. Digging further into the rubble, he uncovers some fine-tuned gears perfect for D. Lastly, he retrieves a sturdy claw attachment Mecha could put to use for repairs.
As he's about to leave, something catches his eye—a worn but soft scarf tangled in the rubble. He pauses, running his fingers over the fabric. It's faded but still warm. "Guess I'll keep this one for myself," he mutters before taking off, arms full of scavenged treasures.
Meanwhile, back on the ship, Uzi is seriously adjusting the tree while N enthusiastically hangs mismatched ornaments. V lounges in the corner acting like he does not care, all the while catching occasional tweaks of the decoration when no one's looking.
The door bursts open, and Y/N stumbles in with arms loaded full of gifts. Uzi looks up from her work, an eyebrow rising. "Well, look who's finally back. I didn't think you were the gift-giving type. Feeling the holiday spirit, huh?"
Y/N groans, dropping the pile onto the floor with a thud. "Don't start, gremlin. You just guilt-tripped me into this mess. This wasn't part of the plan!"
N bounds over, his eyes lighting up at the sight of the presents. "Presents? For us? This is amazing! What'd I get? What'd I get?"
Y/N smirks. "Calm down, bowtie boy. Everyone gets something. even if some of you don't deserve it." He shoots a pointed glance at V, who rolls her eyes but snatches her present without a word.
They take turns opening presents. As Uzi winds up the music box, playing a gentle tune that fills the ship, her face lights up. "This. this is actually pretty nice," she says, a slight pinkness rising to her cheeks.
N instantly puts on all three bow ties and spins around to display himself. "How do I look? Dapper, right?!"
V runs her fingers over the edges of the new blades, examining them. She says nothing but Y/N catches a rare, subtle smirk as she slides them into her collection.
J gasps audibly at the appearance of the mirror, practically swooning at her reflection. "Finally, someone who understands my brilliance!" she exclaims, ignoring Y/N's existence completely.
D and M look at their practical gifts and nod their heads in approval, while Thad looks at the board game with mild confusion. "Uh, thanks, I guess? Does it come with rules?"
As the chaos starts to die down, Uzi nudges Y/N with her elbow. "See? I told you this would be worth it. Admit it, you're feeling it now, aren't you?"
Y/N leans against the wall, watching the group bicker and laugh and show off their gifts. For the first time in a long while, there's warmth in the air that feels. almost like home. He lets out a sigh, a small reluctant smile creeping onto his face. "Yeah, yeah. Merry freakin' Christmas, I guess."
The night winds down, curling up around the makeshift tree, huddled with everyone. N hums Christmas carols-badly; Uzi adjusts the music box for the tenth time; even V sits nearby, sharpening her new blades. The soft glow of the tree's mismatched lights casts a warm hue over the group.
Y/N wraps the scarf around his neck, pulling it snug as he watches his ragtag family enjoy the moment. Despite everything—the chaos, the destruction, the endless fights to survive—tonight feels different. Tonight feels. right. While the group continues to revel in chaotic celebration, Uzi sits cross-legged near the tree, her eyes flickering between the glowing lights and Y/N, who is leaning against the wall, arms crossed, pretending he's not enjoying the scene. A sly smirk curls on her lips as she pulls something from her jacket—a slightly wilted but intact mistletoe she had scavenged earlier while decorating the ship. She'd been saving this for the perfect moment.
Quietly slipping away from the others, Uzi tiptoes up to Y/N, concealing the mistletoe behind her back. She climbs up onto the armrest of a nearby chair to give her enough height to dangle it directly over his head. Y/N, sensing movement, shifts over to look at her, raising an eyebrow.
Y/N: "Gremlin, what are you up to now?"
Uzi, trying to feign innocence, pulls the mistletoe from behind her back and dangles it above them, her grin spreading. "Oh, nothing. Just. following Christmas traditions." She says with a tilted head, full of smugness. "You wouldn't want to ruin the holiday spirit, would you?"
Y/N stares up at the mistletoe, then into Uzi's mischievous grin. His eyes narrow while he lets out a sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose. "You can't be serious. Out of all the things you could do, this is what you came up with?"
Uzi shrugs, her grin never faltering. "Hey, it's not my fault you're bad at embracing the holiday cheer. Besides," she leans closer, "this is kind of a 'must do' when mistletoe's involved."
Y/N looks around the room, hoping someone will save him from this predicament. But unfortunately, N notices what's happening and instantly lights up clapping his hands together. "Oh my gosh! Is that mistletoe? This is so exciting! Y/N, you have to play along- it's tradition!"
Y/N glares at N, who is just about bouncing up and down, before shifting his gaze back at Uzi, who just looks way too smug. He lets out a loud groan, throwing his head back. "Why me? Why is it always me?"
Uzi taunts with the mistletoe. "Come on, N/N. Don't be a Scrooge! You know the rules."
Y/N exhales sharply, muttering under his breath. "This is officially the worst Christmas ever." After a long pause, he looks back at her, his voice laced with resignation. "Fine. Let's get this over with. But if anyone breathes a word about this later, I'm personally feeding them to V."
V, who has been watching from her spot near the tree, smirks. "Oh, I'll definitely be mentioning this later. Count on it."
Uzi, undeterred, leans forward and plants a quick, playful kiss on Y/N's Lips. She hops down triumphantly, crossing her arms as she grins up at him. "See? That wasn't so bad! Merry Christmas, N/N!"
Y/N pulls his scarf higher, covering his reddening face. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Merry freakin' Christmas."
N bursts into applause, practically bouncing with excitement. "That was so cute! It's like a Christmas movie! I'm so glad I didn't miss this!"
J, who's been admiring herself in her new mirror, looks over. "Hmph. A little childish, but I suppose it fits the holiday."
Thad snickers, trying to suppress his laughter, while D shakes her head, muttering something about how ridiculous the whole thing is. Mecha simply observes from the corner, their expression unreadable but vaguely amused.
Y/N glares at the group, his tone deadpan. "You're all awful. Every single one of you."
Uzi, still holding the mistletoe like a trophy, winks at him. "Oh, come on, admit it—you liked it. Just a little?"
Y/N scoffs, looking away and muttering under his breath, "Not in a million years." Yet, he cannot help but watch the group return to their antics, still arguing and giggling, the slight smile pulling at the corner of his mouth. Perhaps, after all-just perhaps-this Christmas was not so bad.
