Rays of Hope

The first light of dawn crept through the heavy curtains of Tara’s room, casting a faint glow on her pale, sleeping form. The fever had eased, and her breathing, though still shallow, had found a more steady rhythm. Maan sat by her side, his fingers intertwined with hers, his eyes puffy from sleeplessness but filled with hope. The storm of the previous night had passed, leaving behind a calm stillness, fragile yet comforting.

As he stroked her curls, Maan whispered softly, "You made it through the night, Toru. I knew you would." His voice, though tired, carried the warmth of deep love and relief.

Just then, Shivendra and Raghavendra quietly entered the room. The weight of the night still hung heavily on their shoulders, but as they saw Tara resting, their hearts lightened slightly. Shivendra moved closer to Maan and placed a firm hand on his shoulder.

"How is she?" Shiv asked, his voice low but filled with concern.

Maan looked up at his elder brother, dark circles under his eyes, but a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "She’s stable now. The fever broke early this morning. But she’s still weak. It’s going to take time."

Raghavendra let out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding. "Thank the gods," he muttered, stepping closer to Tara’s bed. His eyes softened as he gazed at his sister. "I can’t believe Samar could do something like this. How could we have missed it?"

Maan shook his head, his expression turning grim. "He played us all. I don’t care what his reasons were—when I find him, he’ll pay for this."

Shivendra nodded, his jaw clenched. "We won’t let him get away with it, Maan. But for now, let’s focus on Tara. She’s our priority."

At that moment, a soft, weak voice broke through the tension. "Shiv... Raghu... you’re both here?" Tara’s eyes fluttered open, her voice barely above a whisper. Her brothers immediately moved closer, their expressions shifting from worry to joy at seeing her awake.

"Taru," Shivendra said softly, his face filled with relief. "You scared us."

Tara’s lips curved into a faint smile, though her eyes were still heavy with exhaustion. "I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to."

Raghavendra bent down and gently kissed her forehead. "You don’t need to apologize. We’re just glad you’re okay."

Tara closed her eyes briefly, as if gathering the strength to speak again. "Samar... he did this, didn’t he?" she whispered, her memory hazy but enough to recall the last few moments before she collapsed.

Maan’s grip on her hand tightened slightly, his expression darkening. "Yes. But don’t worry about him. We’ll handle it. You just focus on getting better."

Tara nodded weakly, though her mind was still swirling with thoughts of betrayal. How could someone they trusted so easily have turned on them like that? But her strength wasn’t there yet to delve into those feelings.

"Just rest now," Raghavendra added, pulling the blanket up to her chin. "We’ll be here when you wake up."

Tara smiled again, her eyelids already feeling heavy. "I’m so lucky to have all of you," she whispered as sleep began to pull her under once more.

As she drifted back into slumber, the brothers stood silently around her, their hearts lighter but still weighed down by the events of the previous night. Maan, who had spent the entire night keeping vigil, finally allowed himself to relax slightly, though he never let go of her hand.

"She’s a fighter," Shivendra said softly, his voice filled with pride. "Just like our mother."

Raghavendra nodded, his thoughts turning to the next steps. "We need to find Samar. He can’t get away with this. He’s dangerous, and we don’t know what else he’s planning."

Maan, who had been silent, spoke with cold determination. "I’ll handle Samar. He put Tara in danger. He put *our family* in danger. That’s unforgivable."

Shivendra glanced at Maan, seeing the fury simmering beneath his calm exterior. "You’re not going after him alone, Maan. We’ll find him together, and he’ll answer for what he’s done."

Raghavendra’s face hardened, agreeing with Shiv. "We’ve already sent word to the guards. They’ll track him down. But you’re right—he’ll face the consequences."

The three brothers stood in silent agreement, the bond between them stronger than ever. They had always been close, but the danger to Tara had reminded them of just how much they meant to each other.

Maan finally rose from his chair, stretching his stiff limbs. "I’ll stay with her until she wakes up again. You two get some rest. You’ve been up all night."

Shivendra shook his head. "No. We’re not leaving until she’s fully recovered. We’re in this together, Maan. All of us."

Raghavendra placed a hand on Maan’s shoulder, giving him a reassuring look. "We’ll take turns. You’ve done enough for now."

Reluctantly, Maan nodded, though he still lingered beside Tara. "Alright. But if she wakes up again and asks for me…"

"We’ll call you immediately," Shivendra promised with a soft smile. "She’s lucky to have a brother like you, Maan."

Maan gave a small nod, his eyes filled with warmth despite the exhaustion. "We’re all lucky to have each other."

As the sun climbed higher in the sky, the brothers stood together, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, united by their love for their sister and their unbreakable and beautiful bond..
