This is a red and Chloe oneshot
Chloe is stressed about studying and faints, red takes care of her
Red × Chloe
________________________________________________________________________________________________3rd person pov:
Chloe had always been relentless in her pursuit of perfection. Whether it was schoolwork, personal projects, or anything she cared about, she never allowed herself to rest until it was done—properly. Lately, the pressure from her upcoming exams had become overwhelming, and she pushed herself harder than ever before. Every night, she stayed up late studying, only taking brief breaks when her body begged for them.
Red, her girlfriend of two years, could see the toll it was taking. Chloe was determined to succeed, but it seemed like every time she conquered one task, another, more demanding one awaited her. Red had tried to intervene, tried to make Chloe slow down, but it never worked. Chloe would always insist, "Just one more chapter," or "I’m almost done, Red, I can’t stop now."
Tonight, Chloe was at her desk again, surrounded by textbooks, papers, and notes that looked like they were never going to end. Her pen flew across the page in a blur, but Red could see the way her hand trembled slightly, the faint signs of exhaustion creeping into her eyes.
“Chloe,” Red said, her voice steady but filled with concern. She leaned against the doorframe, watching the girl she loved so much push herself past the point of reason. “Please. You need to stop. You’ve been at this for hours.”
Chloe didn’t even glance up, her focus fixed entirely on the work in front of her. “I’m fine, Red. I just have a little more to do.”
“Chloe, no. This isn’t healthy. You're going to—"
"I can’t stop now," Chloe interrupted, her voice tight. "If I stop, I won’t finish in time, and if I don't finish, I’ll fail. I can’t fail."
Red's heart sank. She had heard this before, but it didn’t make it any easier to hear. She walked over to Chloe’s side, gently placing her hand on the pile of textbooks.
“You're not going to fail. But you're pushing yourself too hard. I’m worried about you.”
Chloe looked up for the first time, her eyes dull with exhaustion, but she just shook her head. “I’ll be fine, Red. I just need to get this done.”
Red wasn’t convinced. She sat down beside her, trying to steady Chloe’s shaking hand. "Please, Chloe. You have to stop. You’ve been awake for hours, barely eating, barely drinking… You can’t keep going like this."
Chloe blinked slowly, the words not quite sinking in. But before Red could say anything else, she noticed Chloe’s eyes fluttering, her breathing becoming shallow and uneven.
“Chloe?” Red asked, voice urgent.
But Chloe didn’t answer. Her body swayed, her hand falling limply to the desk, and in an instant, she collapsed forward, her head hitting the desk with a dull thud.
Panic surged through Red as she rushed to catch Chloe in her arms. She could feel her pulse pounding in her ears as she gently lifted her, realizing with horror that Chloe was unresponsive. “Chloe, please… please wake up!” Red’s voice cracked, and she felt her world tilt dangerously. This wasn’t just exhaustion. This was something much more serious.
Tears filled Red’s eyes as she moved quickly, lifting Chloe’s limp body and carrying her to the couch. Her mind raced as she tried to assess the situation. Her first instinct was to grab Chloe’s phone, to call someone, but she didn’t. She knew what needed to be done. She checked Chloe’s pulse—steady, thank goodness—and then grabbed a blanket, covering her as carefully as she could, but her hands were shaking.
Minutes passed before Chloe stirred, her eyelids fluttering weakly. Her voice, when it came, was barely a whisper. “Red?”
“Chloe,” Red breathed out, her voice filled with relief, but also a deep concern. “Thank God you’re okay. You scared me.”
Chloe blinked, trying to sit up, but Red immediately placed a hand on her chest, urging her back down. “No, don’t move. You’re in no shape to get up. You fainted. You need to rest.”
“I’m fine,” Chloe murmured, her voice faint, but she was clearly still dazed. “I just… I need to finish studying. I can’t afford to fall behind…”
Red’s face hardened. “You’re not fine. Look at you, Chloe. You’re barely conscious, and you still think you need to keep going? You need to listen to me. This isn’t worth it. You are not invincible.”
Chloe’s eyes were filled with guilt, but she was too weak to argue. She let out a long, tired breath, and Red gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face.
“I don’t want to fail…” Chloe whispered, her voice filled with fear.
“You’re not going to fail,” Red said, her tone softening. “But you need to take care of yourself. You can’t keep pushing yourself like this. Not for me, not for anyone.”
Chloe closed her eyes, finally giving in to the exhaustion that had been waiting for her all along. “I’m sorry,” she whispered, the words breaking as she spoke them. “I just… I thought I could handle it.”
Red’s heart ached as she leaned down to kiss her forehead. “You don’t have to handle it all alone, Chloe. I’m here. Always.”
Chloe gave a small nod before falling into a deep, much-needed sleep. Red stayed by her side the entire night, watching over her, determined to protect her from herself.
