Before I start writing the chapter. I'm really sad to tell you that my cat has passed away. She was unable to overcome her illness. I feel fine now, but it's still hard because my body reflexively checks the places where she always liked to spend time...__________________________
As Kushida walks in the hallways, she finds a small group of friends chatting with each other. She smiles and approaches them politely, tapping one on the shoulder. "Hey guys, do you mind if I join you?"
The group looked startled, they didn't expect Kushida to approach them. But seeing Kushida's cheerful face, they immediately relaxed. The girl who was tapped on the shoulder responded as the representative of the group. "H-Hey, Kushida. Of course. You can join us." The rest of the group nodded in agreement.
"Thanks, guys!" Kushida happily joined the group, putting her bag down on the floor. She glanced at each of the members, her eyes landing on the representative. "So, what were you guys talking about just now?"
The representative girl replied, "We were just chatting about the upcoming sports festival. Have you signed up for any events yet?" The others in the group chimed in and they all looked at Kushida, waiting for her answer.
Kushida's smile widened. "Oh, absolutely... I signed up for a few events. I want to give it my all during the sports festival. It's going to be so much fun!" She beamed, seemingly excited.
As Kushida was conversing with the group, she suddenly sensed someone standing nearby. She glanced in the direction and saw Ichinose a few steps away, her back turned to her. Curiously, Kushida excused herself from the group and approached Ichinose. She spoke in a friendly tone. "Hey, Ichinose. What are you doing here alone?"
"Why did you do this to me?" She asked, her voice barely above a whisper as she kept her face hidden.
Kushida's smile faltered for a moment, her friendly demeanor shifting to confusion. "Do what? I don't understand. What are you talking about?" She stepped closer, trying to catch a glimpse of Ichinose's face.
Ichinose was silent for a moment, her back still turned towards Kushida. Then, she took a deep breath and said in a cold tone, still without facing Kushida, "You know exactly what I'm talking about." Ichinose's words had a hint of pain in them and it confused Kushida. She had never seen Ichinose like this before. She reached out a hand, gently tugging at Ichinose's shoulder, trying to get her to turn around. "Ichinose, look at me. Tell me what's wrong. You have to give me more context here. What did I do to you?"
Ichinose relented and slowly turned around, her face still hidden. But there was a clear anguish in her eyes. She looked at Kushida. "Why? Why did you do it? I trusted you!"
Kushida's eyes widened in shock and horror at the sight of Ichinose's face. Blood trickled down from her cut and torn face, it looked fresh. Kushida's hand that was on her shoulder started to shake. Horror and disbelief washed over her. "I—I..." Kushida was at a loss for words. She took a step back, shocked by the sight before her.
