A woman was sprinting away, carrying a baby in her arms who was in a basket with a warm blanket.

Tears were streaming down her face, as she arrived at a doorstep. she slowly set the baby down, the baby looked at her confused.

The unknown woman started trembling, gritting her teeth. "I— I'm sorry, my baby. I... I can't do this anymore. You're not safe with me."

She hastily gave a soft kiss to the baby, who was wailing. "I... I can't guarantee your safety anymore. I'm sorry." The woman cupped the baby's cheeks, before ringing the doorbell and running away.

There were footsteps walking towards the front door, the floor softly creaking. The unknown person opened the door, looking around confusingly before his eyes landed on the baby, who was crying.

"Huh... Who's baby is this?" He said, eyes widened.

The boy looked to be around 16, with dark, short, wavy hair and black eyes. He noticed that there's a small piece of paper in the basket, that read '(Name)'

The baby continued wailing, lips trembling. The boy quickly picked the basket up and carried the baby into his house, still trying to understand what it's doing here.

He tried calming the baby down, but all efforts were in vain. So, he picked her up, rocking her back and forth. The baby stopped weeping, as she just stared at him with big doe eyes, giggling.

The boy let out a sigh of relief, "What am I going to do with you now..." He frowned, before grabbing his phone and typing in a number. The phone kept beeping for awhile, before someone picked it up.

"Aye, you've never called me before, Shota!" A loud voice beamed, the baby wincing. "Quiet down, you idiot." The dark haired boy hissed, "Hehe, sorry!" The voice laughed boisterous, clearly not sorry.

"Look, I'm in a difficult situation. Come over, now." Shota said, before hanging up the call. He looked at the baby in his arms, she had fluffy tufts of [h/c) hair, along with big (e/c) eyes. She looked to be around 9 months old.

The baby, giggling, tried touching his face, the tired boy just looked at her with a blank expression, as she tugged on his hair. He just sighed and let her do whatever she wants, still not grasping onto the fact that a random baby just showed up at his doorstep.

A few minutes later, loud knocking could be heard. The boy walked to the door, and opened the door. There, revealed another 16 year old boy with bright yellow hair, a pair of orange glasses on, and a big grin on his face.

"What's up!" He beamed, about to walk into the house when he suddenly stopped in his tracks. His gaze locked onto that of a 9 month old baby, looking up at him with curious eyes.

It was silent for a few seconds, before the loud boy loudly exclaimed, "Woah, who's this!? Don't tell me this baby is yours, Shota!—"

The former boy cut him off, "Be quiet, you dumbass!" The dark haired boy sighed, "She isn't mine, obviously. I found her in front of my doorstep in a basket, there was a note attached to it. Her name is (Name)."

The yellow haired boy was surprised, his eyes widening. "Seriously? Who leaves their baby at some random stranger's doorstep."

The dark haired boy frowned, "I don't know, Yamada. But it was probably because of personal reasons."

"What do we do with her?" The blondie questioned.
"we should contact the police, hopefully they can find something about her background." Shota replied, looking at the baby in his arms. She's fast asleep, his eyes softened.

And thus, both Shota and Yamada made their ways to the police station with the baby in the basket, the dark haired boy made sure she was comfortable and warm.

They registered in, and asked a police officer if there is any information regarding the little baby sleeping in her comfy basket. They tried finding anything, but alas, couldn't find anything.

"Her name is just (Name), right? No last name?"
A police officer asked, Kuronoma, to which Shota nodded.

"Hmm... How strange. Well, looks like we'll have to get detective Tsukauchi on this case. For the time being, we'll take her and make sure we have a reliable nanny to take care of her."

By now, little (Name) was already awake and was confused of her surroundings. When she saw an unknown man reaching for her, her lips trembled and she started crying

The police officer was baffled, the two teenagers were shocked to say the least.

Kuronoma chuckled, "Well, looks like we can't take her. Are you two capable of taking care of a 9 month old baby?"

Shota was thinking about it, before Yamada's loud mouth opened and screamed "HELL YEAH!"
"Well then, I'll leave her in your care. A few officers will be checking in on her from time to time, who should we register her under?"

The dark haired teenager sighed, before raising his hand. "Register her under my name."
Kuronoma smiled, nodding. Leaving and then coming back with a few papers, asking them to sign the paper.

The baby was watching them, smiling. After they were done, they left the police station. Shota looked down at the baby, noticing her giggling at his tired expression.

His eyes softened, suppressing a smile but the corners of his mouth still curved up a bit.

"HAH! YOU'RE SMILING! I DIDNT KNOW YOU COULD DO THAT—"
"Shut up."
