**Sophie's POV**

Weeks passed since the reunion, but the memories clung to me like a stubborn fog. I thought I'd moved on, but seeing Daniel again had stirred up emotions I wasn't ready to face. Life, however, had no time for personal dilemmas. Work was relentless, and my consulting firm had just landed a new high-profile client.

That's when my consultant, Emma, strolled into my office, radiating excitement.

"Sophie, you're going to love this," she began, placing a file on my desk.

"What's this?" I asked, flipping it open.

"The deal of a lifetime," she grinned. "I've been brainstorming brand partnerships for our latest client, and guess who would be the perfect collaborator?"

My stomach flipped as I scanned the proposal. There it was, clear as day: **The Hampton Group**. Daniel's company.

"You've got to be kidding me," I muttered under my breath.

"What's wrong?" Emma asked, her brow furrowing.

"I... I just don't think this is the right fit," I said, closing the file.

Emma looked incredulous. "Are you serious? Their sustainability initiatives align perfectly with what we're building. Plus, their reach is unparalleled."

I hesitated. It wasn't just about business—it never was when Daniel was involved. "I'll think about it."

**Daniel's POV**

"You sure about this?" James asked, leaning back in his chair as we reviewed the proposal.

"This isn't personal," I said firmly. "Sophie's firm is one of the best in the industry. If we want to launch this product line, we need her expertise."

James raised an eyebrow but said nothing. I could tell he was skeptical. After all, he'd seen firsthand how tangled things had gotten between Sophie and me.

"It's business," I repeated, as if saying it out loud would make it true.

**Sophie's POV**

Before I could make a decision about reaching out to The Hampton Group, fate—or Daniel's impeccable timing—intervened. Emma burst into my office one morning, practically bouncing with excitement.

"They reached out to us!" she exclaimed, waving her phone in the air.
