On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Li Xiao took An An out to sweep the snow early in the morning. The terrain near the villa was high and the snow was heavy. There was thick snow piled at the door to prevent the road from being slippery. Li Xiao not only swept the snow with a broom himself, but also brought his daughter along.
The two of them cleared the snow on the path in the yard, as well as the steps under the eaves and the road outside the door. They were busy all morning, and when they came back, An An's face was flushed with heat.
There are not many people at home. My aunt didn't come back this year, and the nanny also went home. There are only three of them, and it is much quieter than previous years.
Jiang Rou went to the kitchen to heat up the unfinished food from last night, and then made a pot of chicken soup, dumplings and noodles.
As soon as An An entered the room, she started to tell Jiang Rou about it, and said angrily, "Mom, Dad is so bad. He asked me to clean, but he was just hiding nearby and being lazy."
Li Xiao, who was walking behind, heard the laughter, took off his hat, and brushed off the snow on his shoulders, "When have I ever been lazy? I was the one who swept the snow on the road outside."
An An was not easy to fool now, "How big is that place? I swept all the snow in the yard."
Li Xiao didn't say anything, but cleared his throat. He didn't feel like he was bullying anyone, and said seriously, "Dad is old, so naturally he can't be as capable as you."
An An was so angry that she went to her mother and said, "Mom, look at him."
Jiang Rou looked at Li Xiao helplessly, "You are so old, how can you cheat a child like this? Come on, wash your hands and eat."
An An skipped to the table and looked at the food. Seeing that his favorite dishes were there, he happily went to the kitchen to get some noodles.
Zhou Jian came over in the morning to pay New Year's greetings. He didn't go home this year, mainly because he couldn't go back because the train station was completely blocked. He left late and happened to encounter this incident. People couldn't squeeze in and the train seemed to have stopped running. He had to squeeze out again with Zhou Hong overnight.
But Wang Yan and her family went back to their hometown and left early. Wang Yan took their younger son Zhou Chen with her. She and Zhou's mother could only take care of one child. There were many people on the train during the New Year, so they didn't dare to take both children with them. The younger son couldn't leave his mother, so they let Zhou Hong go back with Zhou Jian a few days later.
But I didn't know that I wouldn't be able to go back a few days later. This year, Zhou Jian and Zhou Hong are spending the New Year here. Last night, Li Xiao was going to invite Zhou Jian and his son to come over for dinner, but Zhou Jian didn't come. Instead, he took his son out to watch a movie, eat Western food, and go to the amusement park.
The amusement park is closed during the Chinese New Year, and I don’t know what fun there is inside.
An An acted like a little adult, bringing food and drinks to Zhou Jian, which made Zhou Jian envious. He said to Li Xiao, "It's better to have a daughter. My two sons combined are not as caring as An An."
As soon as he finished speaking, Zhou Hong came running over with his friends, "Dad, Uncle Li Xiao——"
There are still quite a few residents in the community. Some of the children are about the same age as Zhou Hong, and they became familiar with each other while playing together. There are also two mixed-race children who seemed to have returned from abroad for the Chinese New Year.
