As the students dispersed to their respective dormitories under the orders and watchful eye of Headmistress Joy, the teachers still in the hall chatted quietly. Everyone had to draw a cloth and make decisions about how they were going to act from now on.
"Theron, you're right!" Said Sorin, one of the teachers, urgently. "We have to get together."
Eleni, the teacher and headmistress of Lykói House, was sitting on one of the benches and nodded in agreement with Theron and Sorin. She was rigid, with a blank stare, wondering what was going on. First the situation with Alexandro and his sisters, and now this.
"They're right, Joy! We can't let this go!"
"What do we do from now on? Have you seen our students?" Sorin asked in frustration. "It was a total mess!"
"Firstly, we have to prevent the houses from clashing, as was happening just now!" Valeska said, with a determined and impeccable demeanour. As well as being of the Miktós race, she was also the deputy headmistress. "Secondly, we have to realise what consequences what we are witnessing will have and find a way to mitigate them. Thirdly, we need to find a clear and concise solution."
"Funny you should mention such a thing." Sorin retorted ironically.
" What do you mean by that?" Valeska frowned, not realising what he was getting at.
" Isn't it obvious?" Eleni got up and stood next to Sorin, facing Valeska and pointing her finger at him. "Your race is to blame. Have you seen what they've done? They destroyed Aaron's union. That girl is his mate. And as always, your race has to harm mine."
"Eleni!"Joy protested, with forced calm. "Stop it now."
But it was too late. Eleni was no longer listening. And the tension was already in the air.
" Soften?! I'm sure you even liked that it was one of your own kind who stole the union from Aaron! Arik is guilty! You're to blame. If you didn't exist, we'd still have the gods with us. I wish you didn't exist!"
"You're wrong, Eleni! Extremely wrong! It's not my fault, it's not Arik's fault and it's certainly not the Miktós' fault." She kept her voice low and controlled, even though she was angry. Valeska held her head high and her posture stiff. "When they have nothing or no one to blame, they always come down on us. Not funny."
As she looked at Eleni, Valeska looked away from Sorin and what she saw hurt her in a way she hadn't thought it would. Ever since she was young, even as a Miktós, she had always fought for peace between the two races and now, as an adult, she made a point of doing everything she could to get along with the Lykoi race. Such efforts, as well as other reasons, led to her being appointed the youngest vice headmaster of Olympus College. And when she met Sorin, knowing that he was a wolf, she struggled to achieve a respectful and cordial relationship, which happened after years of striving for it. However, at that very moment, she saw something in his eyes that she hadn't seen since she studied at Olympus two decades ago. Contempt. Hatred. Fury.
"You're all the same. For once, take the blame for your actions!" Sorin said, looking her up and down.
Valeska sighed and just as she was about to open her mouth to speak, Anton, another teacher, laughed sarcastically and shook his head.
"You know what I have to say, Eleni, is that if Stravos were here, you wouldn't even have the courage to say half of what you've just said."
"You're wrong!" She disagreed.
"Speaking of Stravos, where is he?" Sorin asked, raising an eyebrow suspiciously. For it was common knowledge that no one could be absent from the meeting, neither student nor teacher, nor any other member of the Olympus School.
