“Thus, with respect to the size of DNA fragments, we can segregate it by using agarose gel electrophoresis.” And the bell went off. “Akshit! Can you help me with this topic?” Manav pointed out the diagram from the book. While I was explaining to him, a non-staff member came to our class and stuck a piece of paper on our notice board.
The curiosity struck my fellow mates as they eagerly gathered around the board. “It's about the trip, I'm so excited!!” I heard someone squeal. “Oh trip! Hum toh bhul he gaye thee yaar.” Manav exclaimed. I nodded and jotted down a few more points to give him a summary of the topic.
(Oh trip! We had totally forgotten about it buddy.)
“Thanks bhai, pata nahi tu na hota toh mera kya hota.” He said in an over dramatic voice. “Done with your drama?” I asked, sensing a change in his behavior. He quickly nodded and skipped his feets to read the notice.
(Thanks bro, I have no idea what I would have done without you.)
A while later, he came running to me, exhilarated. “Bro, you won't believe where the school is taking us for the annual school trip this year.” He bet. “Where?” I asked, curious. “Ladakh!!” He exclaimed, almost jumping like a bunny. And to be honest, I was surprised too.
“Suddenly budget kaise badh gaya school walon ka?” I joked because on last year's school trip, the students (I didn't go on the trip) were taken to tour Delhi and Agra. I mean obviously that's not bad but Delhi is near our state whereas Ladakh is a totally different region.
(How did the school's budget escalate so much?)
“No idea!” Manav shrugged his shoulders and returned to his seat as Mehta sir entered the room with a sheet of papers. The environment simultaneously shifted as the rest of the students too got back to their places.
“Students, here are a few sample papers which I want all of you to finish before you sit for the upcoming Half Yearly exams. Have I made myself clear?” He asked. “Yes sir.” We replied in unison.
‘Finally the sample papers are here~’ To say I was more excited to do these sample papers rather than think about the trip would be understatement. Mehta sir jotted down topics for the day. “Everybody settle down and focus on the board.” He commanded as I took out my notebooks and pen to take notes.
“So whatever we've studied today, I want all of you to revise it properly and don't forget to prepare a table for the name reactions.” He said and left as it had already been 5 minutes after the bell rang.
“Let's go bro, my stomach is craving to see Yukti.” “That was the most dumb statement I've ever heard.” I replied to my over dramatic friend. “That's exactly what I'm saying! My brain needs fuel to work and so does my heart, so let's go to the canteen.” He dragged me out and made me run.
A while later we found the ladies waiting for us at our usual table. After we catched up about the happenings, Manav started the discussion about the school trip. “So guys, Ladakh it is!?” He exclaimed. But sadly no one reciprocated his excitement.
