It was Halloween evening, and the Eilish house buzzed with excitement. Five-year-old Amelia was bouncing around in her room, clutching her favorite stuffed bunny, Mr. Floppy, in one hand and her bright pink pacifier in the other. She was dressed in a little black Wednesday Addams dress, her pigtails already neatly braided. But her makeup wasn't done yet, and that was making her extra wiggly.
"Mommyyyyyy!" Amelia called out, stomping her little cowboy boots that she had insisted on wearing to match Billie's costume.
Billie Eilish, her own cowboy hat tilted on her head, appeared in the doorway holding a small makeup kit. "Alright, my spooky little nugget, time for your Wednesday Addams transformation! Let's get that face all pale and creepy."
Amelia squealed with delight and climbed into the chair Billie had set up. She sucked on her pacifier thoughtfully, her eyes wide with excitement.
"Okay," Billie said, crouching down to Amelia's level. "First things first, you gotta take out the binky while I do your makeup."
Amelia frowned, hugging Mr. Floppy tighter. "But I need it! It's... it's for thinkin'," she protested, her voice muffled around the pacifier.
"You can think just fine without it for a little bit," Billie said, gently taking the pacifier from Amelia's mouth and setting it on the table. "See? Now you can talk to me like a big girl while I work my magic."
Amelia pouted for a moment but quickly got distracted by the makeup brushes. "What's this one for, Mommy? It's so poofy! Is it for my... my um... my nose?"
"That's for powder, silly," Billie said, laughing. She dipped the brush into the pale foundation and began dabbing it lightly onto Amelia's cheeks.
Amelia wiggled slightly, making Billie pause. "You gotta stay still, lovebug," Billie reminded her.
"I'm trying! But it tickles! Like... like a butterfly on my face!" Amelia giggled, scrunching up her nose.
Billie grinned and tried to hold back her own laughter. "Well, no butterflies here, just a cowboy mom trying to make you look spooky."
Amelia gasped, suddenly serious. "I hafta look really, really spooky, Mommy. Like Wednesday! She doesn't smile ever. Not even when she gets candy!"
"That's true," Billie agreed. "But you know what? I bet even Wednesday secretly likes candy. She just hides it."
Amelia nodded sagely. "Yeah, prob'ly in her spooky pockets. I have pockets too! Look!" She wiggled her dress, showing off the little pockets sewn into the sides.
"Perfect for hiding your candy," Billie said, finishing the pale base. She reached for the black eyeliner. "Okay, now comes the tricky part. Don't move, or we might end up with some crazy crooked eyebrows."
Amelia gasped. "Noooo, I don't want crazy 'brows! I want, um... mad 'brows!"
"Mad brows it is," Billie said, concentrating as she carefully drew on thin, dark eyebrows to complete the Wednesday Addams look.
Amelia stayed quiet for a full ten seconds before blurting, "Mommy! Do you think Mr. Floppy can have candy too? Or does it make stuffies sick?"
"I think Mr. Floppy's a big fan of candy," Billie replied, adding the finishing touches to Amelia's makeup.
"He likes the round ones," Amelia informed her. "You know, the little balls? Like... um... the big gum things."
"Gobstoppers?" Billie guessed, smiling.
