Chapter 31

Years have passed since that day, and looking back, I can't believe how far we've come. Cody went off to college after all we'd been through, determined to make the most of his second chance at life. And me? I worked hard, took my real estate courses, and built a career. We had our challenges-long-distance, balancing careers, and just life in general-but we made it through. We got married after Cody graduated, in a small ceremony that felt perfect for us. It was just us, promising forever, even after everything we'd been through.

Then, not long after, we had twins. A boy and a girl. They brought so much love and chaos into our home. I look at them now and can hardly believe how much they've changed our lives. And Cody? He's been the best father. I always knew he'd be, but seeing it firsthand? It's the most beautiful thing.

We've had our share of heartache, too. Cody lost his dad to a drunk driving accident. That was a hard blow for him, but it didn't break him. It made him more determined to build something better for his family. And me? I've been by his side through it all, just like I promised.

Sage and Ryan got married, too. They've built a life together, and we've been there for each other through everything. Our bond, our friendship-it's unbreakable. We've shared so many memories, both the joyous ones and the painful ones. But we've always had each other's backs.

When I look back at everything we've been through, I can't help but be thankful. We've had some incredible highs, moments filled with laughter and love, and there have been losses too, like Cody's dad. But through it all, we've stuck together. We've built a life, a family. Our kids, our careers, our friends-it's all come together in ways I never expected, and I'm so grateful for it. Cody's been my rock, the love of my life, and together we've created something beautiful. Something worth every moment. Looking at our children now, running around and laughing, I know that no matter what happens next, we've made it. We've created a life that's everything we ever wanted. And I wouldn't trade it for the world.

One day after we had put the kids to bed, and i was getting ready in our bathroom, Cody came up to me.

"You know." He whispered softly, putting his arms around my waist and swaying the both of us. "I used to wonder if I'd make it to see this day, but here we are. Look at everything we've built."

I turned and smiled to him. "I love you."

He placed a kiss on my forehead before answering. "I love you more."

"Never."
