"Can I get a double cheeseburger, no mayo, no tomato, with a side of fries, and a large drink?" I ordered at the counter.

"Picky," Sage mumbled beside me.

I rolled my eyes. "And for the other one?" the cashier asked, referring to Sage.

"Just double the order, but with mayo and tomatoes, and replace the fries with chicken nuggets," Sage said confidently.

"So, you want the burger meal with no mayo, no tomatoes, and fries, plus a large drink for her, and for you, mayo, tomatoes, chicken tenders, and a large drink. Is that correct?" the cashier clarified.

I nodded. "That's right."

"That'll be $19.83," the cashier said as Sage handed over her card.

"I'm paying since your mom can see when you order things," Sage said with a smirk, taking her card back after paying.

"Right, forgot about that," I chuckled nervously.

"Okay, your number is 82. Someone will yell out that number when your food is ready, and it's on your right where you'll pick up your food," the cashier informed us, handing over two large cups.

"Thank you!" we both said, taking the cups and heading to the drink station.

"So, you guys broke up?" Sage asked casually as she filled her cup with iced tea.

"So basic," I sighed, filling my cup with Dr Pepper.

We walked back to our seats. "It's been a whole week, and I'm already so sad without him," I confessed, frowning.

"A sign to get back together," Sage singed.

"I don't even know why I suggested we go on a break. I just got so fed up," I admitted, frustration creeping into my voice.

"82!" the cashier called out.

"I'll go get it," I said quickly, getting up and retrieving our order.

"London! Hey," a familiar voice greeted me as I picked up the food.

It was Cody's mom.

"Mrs. Taylor! Hi, what are you doing here?" I asked, trying to keep my composure.

"I came to get lunch with a friend. What are you doing here, dear?" she inquired with a warm smile.

"I came with Sage to get lunch, but we're heading out now," I lied, not wanting to linger.

"Well, it was nice running into you! I hope you girls have fun and stay safe on the road," Mrs. Taylor said kindly.

"We will. Bye-bye," I replied quickly, walking back to our table and picking up my drink.

"Come on, we're leaving," I told Sage.

"Why?" Sage gave me a disappointed look. "We just got here."

"I know, but Cody's mom is here, and I told her we were leaving, so let's go," I insisted, feeling uneasy.

Sage rolled her eyes but grabbed her drink and followed me out the door. "You sound like my dad when... Well, you know," she teased as we walked.

"Mhm, okay," I chuckled, placing my drink in the cup holder and the bag of food in the back seat.

"Oh, shut up," Sage laughed, settling into the passenger seat. "So you're just going to ignore Cody?"

"No, well, not necessarily," I started the car.

"Just because you guys are on a break doesn't mean you can't speak to him or go see him, London," Sage reasoned.

"Says the one who's only been in one relationship that lasted a month," I teased lightly.
