I wake up and turn my alarm off. I sigh lazily and turn some music on. I went into the bathroom and brushed out my hair. I washed my face and brushed my teeth before putting on some foundation and mascara. I went to my closet and threw on some Nike spandex and one of Cameron's old sweatshirts he left at my house a few years ago. My phone started ringing and it was Cameron, I answered and looked out my window.
"VIOLET!!!" Cameron yelled in the phone.
"Jesus Christ, Cam. You don't need to yell in my ear." I said strictly.
"Sorry."
"What do you want?" I asked after he apologized.
He paused before saying anything.
"Cameron?"
Still nothing.
"Sorry, I'll tell you on the way to school." He said sharply.
"What's going on?" I asked, but he hung up.

I went downstairs and ate some breakfast, my parents are usually gone in the morning so I'm alone when I wake up. I checked the mail and threw away junk mail. I almost threw away what looked like a letter from the college I applied to a few months ago, Cameron had applied to the same one. I screamed before calling him.
"Hello?" He answered.
"Are you ready to go yet?" I asked
"Sure."
"Come over, now!" I yelled before hanging up. I ran upstairs and grabbed my backpack and some Nike sneakers.
I heard a knock on the door and opened it to see not who I had expected...

"Violet Hudson?" I police officer asked.
"That's me, what's going on?" I responded. I saw Cameron walk up behind them. I signaled for him to come in the back door, and he disappeared around the side of the house. "Violet, your parents, Julia and Donald
Hudson were involved in a car crash this morning. They both suffered severe injuries and died in the hospital an hour later." I felt tears streaming down my face and Cameron's hand on my shoulder. I turned and hugged him. I held on to him as hard as I possibly could... He was my only family now. All my grandparents were dead, my mom only had one sister but she went missing a few years ago. My dad was an only child.

__________
Cameron's POV

I held Violet until the police officers left and explained what would happen to Violet now that her parents were gone.
"Violet-"
"Don't say anything just hold me, please." She muffled with her face in my chest.
I still don't know why she called me here, but I'm not going to ask. I know its not because of the officers, because the squad car pulled up right as I walked threw her fence gate.
I lifted her chin with my hand and wiped her tears with my other. I kissed her cheek and pulled her in close again.

__________
Violet's POV
Cameron and I are only friends, but we are close. It was still rare that he hugged me, and the first time he ever kissed me. I had never thought of us as more than friends. Until just now, when he kissed me.
I stepped away and showed him the letter. He gasped when I handed it to him. He took it and looked. He handed it back for me to open it.
"Violet, I got in. I'm going to California." I looked at him as he said it and I smiled, I bit my lip, knowing my face was still red and puffy. I opened the letter. Cameron rested his hand in my lower back and read over my shoulder.
"I didn't get in.." I sighed.
"Its okay, do you still want to move to California with me?" He asked.
"Yeah, I'll just apply for online college." I responded.

We went to the living room and sat on the couch and Cameron turned the TV on. The news came on and they were talking about my parents. Cameron's phone rang, and I knew it was his parents. He went in the other room to talk.
This day went nothing like I wanted to. I wanted cameron to come over and I would show him my acceptance letter, then we would go to school happy as can be. But instead officers were standing at my door telling me of my late parents, and I didn't get into college, I'm not even going to school. ( the police officers informed the school) .
Cameron walked in the room and plopped down on the couch.
"My parents are letting me skip. We can use today to pack and plan everything for California."
