Chapter 13:
Six months after Lucy's disappearance, a break finally came. An undercover informant tipped off Nyla Harper about a secluded location outside Los Angeles where Elijah Stone had been seen frequently. A rundown warehouse deep in the desert stood out as a possible hideout.
Nyla Harper: (rushing into the bullpen)
"We've got a lead. Reliable informant says Elijah's been spotted near this warehouse. It's remote, isolated, and perfect for hiding someone."
Tim Bradford: (grabbing his gear)
"We're going. Now."
Sergeant Grey:
"Bradford, wait. This could be another setup. We approach carefully. I'll call SWAT to back us up."
Angela Lopez: (determined)
"No one gets away this time."
The team, fully geared and supported by SWAT, converged on the warehouse. The operation was methodical but tense. As they breached the building, the overwhelming silence was almost deafening.
Tim Bradford: (moving through the halls, weapon ready)
"Chen? Lucy!"
The warehouse was nearly empty—just a few remnants of past activity. In the far corner of the largest room, they found her. Lucy was chained to a chair, her body slumped forward, barely moving.
John Nolan: (gasping)
"Lucy!"
Tim was the first to reach her, kneeling down and gently lifting her face. Her skin was pale, bruised, and her eyes were half-open, unfocused.
Tim Bradford: (softly)
"Lucy, it's me. You're safe now. We've got you."
She barely whispered, her voice weak and broken.
Lucy Chen:
"Tim... you found me."
Chapter 14: Aftermath
Back at the hospital, the team waited anxiously as doctors worked on Lucy. She was severely malnourished, dehydrated, and injured, but she was alive. That alone gave them hope.
Angela Lopez: (to Wesley)
"They kept her alive for months. Why? What were they trying to do?"
Wesley Evers:
"Revenge. Keeping her alive made the punishment last longer for Elijah. He wanted her to suffer."
Nyla Harper: (shaking her head)
"He's not walking away from this. Not this time."
Tim stayed by Lucy's side every chance he got. When she finally regained full consciousness, her first words were directed at him.
Lucy Chen: (hoarse)
"You didn't stop looking."
Tim Bradford: (firmly)
"Never. I told you, Chen. You're not alone."
Chapter 15: The Fight to Heal
Recovery was a slow and painful process for Lucy. Physically, she improved with each passing day, but the emotional scars ran deep. The team supported her every step of the way, refusing to let her give up.
Celina Juarez: (bringing her flowers)
"One step at a time, Lucy. You've got this."
John Nolan: (smiling)
"Mid-Wilshire isn't the same without you bossing us around."
Lucy Chen: (managing a small laugh)
"Guess I better hurry up and get back then."
Chapter 16: Justice Served
Elijah Stone was apprehended during the raid on another of his operations shortly after Lucy's rescue. This time, with overwhelming evidence and witness testimony, he was sentenced to life in prison.
Angela Lopez: (to Tim)
"That chapter's closed. He's never hurting anyone again."
Tim Bradford: (nodding)
"Good. He doesn't get to win."
