My heart was pounding, my mind racing, and just as I was about to savor this perfect moment with her, she pulls out…

A timetable.

Wait… what?

I blinked, staring at the piece of paper in her hand as she pushed it toward me with a determined look.

“Here,” she says, like she's bestowing me with some treasure.

I can’t help but stare at it, dumbfounded.

“Uh… what’s this?” I stammer, my heart still thudding for entirely different reasons now.

“It’s a study schedule!” she announces proudly, like this is the most romantic gesture in the world.

I look down, trying to hide the little pout forming on my lips. I glance at the paper—it's filled with study times, subjects, even snack breaks.

A study timetable?

This is the “big moment”?

“Oh… wow, Yukti, this is… amazing?” I mumble, but the pout’s still there, and I can’t really hide it. I mean, I was kind of hoping for… well, a bit more.

She notices my expression and raises an eyebrow. “What’s with that face?” she asks, giving me a playful nudge.

I hesitate, feeling my cheeks warm up. I can’t just say it, right? I mean, she’s being so serious, so focused on my grades, and here I am… thinking of something completely different.

But she leans in, looking at me expectantly. “What?” she presses, smirking a little, clearly curious.

I scratch the back of my neck, trying to avoid her gaze, but the words sort of tumble out. “I… um… I thought… I thought you were going to… y’know…” I trail off, face heating up.

Her eyebrows shoot up, and now she’s looking at me like she can’t wait to hear this. “Thought I was going to what?”

I sigh, barely able to meet her eyes. Why am I like this? But I finally mutter, “I thought… I thought you were going to… maybe… kiss me .”

There’s this split second of silence, and then she bursts out laughing, and my cheeks are practically on fire.

She’s giggling so much she can barely breathe, while I just sit there, feeling like the world’s biggest idiot—but also secretly loving every second of it.
