A/N: ☺️Here we are with chapter fifteen... I know I keep promising that we will return to our protagonists, that will definitely be the next chapter. I just had to round up this part. This one is actually shorter than the other chapters, I'm sorry about that, but I'll try to bring the others to the same amount as before. For now, though, please enjoy the chapter. ❄💫

Soon, the two were sitting for dinner and quietly eating. Staraí was lost in thought dwelling on how things used to be. 'He's doing it again. I know what he's thinking when he has that look. It's my fault that he always ends up with that look,' Leon thought as he focused on his food. 'I can hardly do anything about it, this is so frustrating. But, I guess, I can try asking about his day...' he thought.

"How was your first day of teaching, uncle?" he asked, sounding uninterested as he did so, but it still snapped Staraí back to the present. "Ah, it was pretty good. I became friends with your teachers, they're really good people. I also have an interesting class. Some kids are a bit troublesome, but I'm sure I can handle them..." he answered and rambled on excitedly. 'At least that got him out of his rut,' Leon thought and continued to eat while listening to his uncle going on.

"What about your new friends?" Staraí asked, "Well, I met two guys who are pretty smart. The class is mainly shy, except for a girl named Oceani, she was very warm and friendly," he answered thoughtfully. "Oh, is she your friend too?" he asked curiously, "No, I try to avoid the popular types, they bring trouble," Leon answered. 'Like father, like son,' Staraí thought with a smile and tried to push the thought away before he let a repeat of earlier happen.

"I'm glad you made new friends," he said and gave his godson a warm, closed-eye smile. 'It's not right for you to smile like that at me. Just for me and nothing and no one else... I don't deserve it. It's not fair for your warmth to only be for me,' he thought bitterly and refocused on his dinner avoiding looking at his godfather. 'He's closed off again... did I say too much?' Staraí wondered as he watched his godson finish his meal.

When they were done, he woke up and took their dishes to the kitchen. "Craving something sweet and tea?" he asked as he did. "Mmhm," Leon said, waking up to dry the dishes. "Thank you, Leo," Staraí noted as the two cleaned up. It's nothing, uncle," he said, and the two settled into a more comfortable silence.

As they had their tea and relaxed Staraí began to speak again, "So Leo, I have some news for you," he said hoping this would excite his godson a bit. Leon looked at him with mild interest, "I managed to contact Mr Agreste, and he has agreed to take you on as an apprentice! Isn't this amazing?" Staraí asked him excitedly. "Huh?" Leon said with a blank look.

'I only mentioned it like once I think,' Leon tried his best to recall why his godfather would be so excited about this, "I thought maybe you'd like it, I mean you are interested in fashion and designing. I think what you sketch and make are amazing, I'm sure Mr Agreste will think so too and..." Staraí began to ramble as he did when he thought he had disappointed his godson or didn't know what to say.

"I'm grateful that you always pay attention uncle, but isn't this too much?" he asked, interrupting him. "You know I'd give you the world if I could Leo, this is something that you love so, of course, I'll do it for you, I don't think it's too much," Staraí explained and looked for any positive hint from his godson who looked deep in thought. "If you really think it will be good for me, then I'll do it, uncle," Leon said, "I'm sure you will enjoy it, Leo, you're gonna be great," he encouraged him.

"So when will I meet Mr Agreste?" Leon asked, "I was thinking we could go tomorrow after school, what do you think?" Staraí suggested. "I think that's a good idea," he agreed, "I think I'm gonna head to bed now uncle," Leon stated, "Ah, of course, have a good sleep with sweet dreams Leo," he responds, "Thanks for dinner and dessert, uncle," Leon mumbled as he took his cup and saucer to wash before heading to his room.

Staraí watched his godson with more hope, "Well, that went pretty well I think," he said with a sigh. "I think so too," a deep voice responded to him, "And tomorrow you both meet Mr. Agreste," it added. "Yeah, I hope it all goes according to plan," Staraí stated, gaining a nod from the other.

Leon enters his room and slips on his ring, "Hey, my little Bat," he greeted as a small black kwami flew out of his ring, "Leo, I've missed you," the fluffy kwami cuddled up to his holder. "Me too Fang," he said and petted his friend before plopping onto his bed, the kwami hovered close by, "What's wrong Leo?" he asked warmly, "Nothing's wrong, it's just my uncle again Fang. He got me an apprenticeship with Mr Agreste," he answers as he got comfortable.

"That's great though right?" the kwami asked with a tilt of his head, "It is, but I mean I only mentioned it once when we were moving," Leon tried to explain as his kwami quietly listened. "You know Fang, I know I've been different, but so has Uncle Rai. He has always fussed over me, but now he has paid even closer attention. When dad was around, Uncle Rai would drag him out once a week for their 'date night'," he said and chuckled slightly at the memory, but it quickly dissipated.

"We both lost my dad, but he's only letting me work through my grief while keeping his away. He has to care for me since no one else in my family would. It's not fair on him," he said, clenched his fist at the thought. "It's not because no one else would, Leo, you know that," the kwami chirped in and Leon sighed in acknowledgement, he knew his uncle loved him more than anyone else and wouldn't let his only real family be separated.

"Yes, I know... but why must he be the one carrying it all? And despite all that, he still thinks about trying to make my life as normal as possible while remembering the smallest things I mention. Like this apprentice with Gabriel Agreste," Leon expressed more, his emotions seemed to show more when he was speaking with his little friend. "What your uncle does is not a bad thing tho Leo, he's an adult, he's being responsible," the kwami replied, being the voice of reason that he usually was.

"I know Fang, but I want to help him in some way. He also deserves to enjoy his life... or at least try to have a normal life too," Leon said showing what he wanted most, he truly wanted his uncle to be happy too but, more often than not, ended up feeling like he was a burden stopping his uncle from living his life. When he was around Fang, this hardly happened because he would pull him away from these thoughts, as he did now after a moment of thought.

"Hmmm, you know, maybe we could try playing Cupid. I mean, he said he has become friends with your teachers, maybe he can become extra close to one of them," the kwami suggested, Leon sat up quickly, "Fang! You're a genius!" Leon exclaimed and hugged his furry kwami, "But how do we do this?" He asked, relaxing back onto his bed with his knees to his chest and Fang resting on them.

"We will need more info on the teachers that he has spoken to, which means you'll need to ask him about it more. He will definitely overshare because of how much he loves you," the kwami answered with a shrug. "Don't you think he would be a little guarded if I just ask," Fang gave him a look and he threw his hands up in surrender, "You're right oh wise one," he teased. "I'm so glad I have you around, mate," he added with a rare smile, "I'm happy to be around, mate. Now, it's time for you to get some rest," Fang replied.

"Oh, first Fang, I saw that miraculous battle today! It was so amazing and that one in school too," Leon said getting excited, "Do you think we can maybe join those fights?" he asked nervously. The kwami laughed at his holder's excitement, "I think we can Leo, our time is near... But you know that with your health and mental state it can be dangerous," he replied and looked at Leon concerned. "Helping people is the right thing to do, Fang. So, I want to try," he answered confidently.

"You have a hero's heart, Leon," the kwami said with a small smile, "We will have to be careful," he added looking seriously at his holder, "I promise that I will be," he said excitedly. "Okay young hero, get some rest then, tomorrow may be your big day if there's an attack," the kwami said, "Okay, okay, goodnight, Fang," he said and settled in his bed, "Goodnight Leo," the kwami said cuddling up next to him.
