chapter 17 (awful people)

the 118 was called to a fairly routine call a lady had been run over in a car park 

"i didn't know what to do" the old lady said as cap and the team approached them 

"you did the right thing " cap said reassuring the lady

"hey is it just me or dose she look familiar " Sam whispered to Buck as they approached 

"umm i am not sure " they knew they recognised her but couldn't think from wear 

"i have a Parshall plate someone should write it down " the lady said as Sam began to punt a neck brace around her 

"don't worry about the plate ma'am " Eddie said trying to calm the lady 

"isn't it the plat on the back of the car" Sam questioned 

"no this is the car the ran me over not the car that hit me and they better both be insured" 

"lets just get you out of their" Cap said with a disapproving look 

"is there enough room for a back bord "Sam asked 

"yeah should be able to slide it under a pull her out "buck answered 

as they began to place the backboard under her Hen and Chim approached

"do i know you "Hen said staring down at the lady 

"no don't think so "the lady said as she tried to avoid eye contacted with them

"last year Hancock park" 

"that is right i never forget a femer" Chim said as he stared down at the lady 

"its the dam porch pirate" Athena said as she appeared behind them

"i knew i recognised her "Sam said as they were packing up after getting her out 

"wait so who was she ?" Eddie questioned 

"she was stelling people packages till she slipped a broke her femer on a drive way" Buck explained 

"did you hear she tried to settle with the owners" Sam said as they wear heading back to the truck 

"so she steals someone's package and then setals them for an injury cased as she was fleeing " Eddie 

"only in LA" buck remarks as they head back to the station

they weren't at the station before for to long before they were called out to a protest were someone had collapsed 

"sergeant " Bobby said with a smile

"caption this boso started coughing then grabbed his cheat and feel over " Athena explained as they approached the man . Sam couldn't help the look of discuses spread across her face at the groups actions. this young man had just died and there more concerned about who he loved it just wasn't right. 

"sir I am going to exam you "Bobby said as he lent down pulling up the mans shirt "ok we have ostomy bag probity backing up we will have to intubate" Hen steps forward preparing to intubate 

"oh hell no" the man said the group instantly realised why he didn't want Hen to do it.

"don't worry I will do it " Sam said calming tacking the bag off of Hen 

"no" The man said casing Sam to stand back "cant you do it " He said with a pitifully look at Bobby  

"I am not a registered parenetic" Bobby explained

"I am fine"

"for now" Sam said staring down at the guy

"what about him?" 

"Diaz " Bobby said standing up allowing Eddie to sit next to him 

 "what kind of name is that ?"

"my dad is from Mexico my mum is Swedish so i can help you with that half but no one told me witch side that is " Eddie joked 

the man quicky shock his head no 

"sir would you like another team "

he shock his head yes 

"he is going to aspirate "Hen said just before he apparated 

"and he is aspirating" Sam adding staring in discuse 

they managed to intubate him and get him in the ambulance 

"well down" Buck said as he approached his sister 

"Cap this is my sister "

"is that her "Maddie said pointing to Sam who was talking to one of the funeral gest 

"it is "Buck said as a wide smile spread across his face "Hey Sam" 

"coming "

"hi i am Maddie "she said extended her hand 

"hi i have heard so much about you " she said shaking her hand "it good to finally put a face to the name" 

"I have heard wonderful things about both of  you "Maddie said leaning forward to shake Bobby's  hand

"Form him you can't believe everything he says " Bobby says with a laugh

 
"No from her " Maddie says pointing to Athena

 "Ahh the feeling is mutual " Bobby said smiling down at Athena 

"she is something else never lets anything get to her "Maddie gushed

" get to me you know if i let people get to me i would never make it past breakfast" she said with a laugh "come on its lunch time " 

"hey you ok" Buck said before walking back to the truck 

"yeah it just i was talking to the parents and it not right that someone funeral it turned in to some political even especially someone who died for this country " Sam said a she took a breath 

" I know" Buck said pulling her in and wrapping his arms around her "lets get back " 

later that week Sam invited Buck and Maddie over for dinner. 

"wow this all looks great " Maddie said and Sam bought over the pasta and salad 

"ahh thank you" Sam said as she sits down "so how was the reast of your rid along ?" 

"interesting to say the least.  Athena and i went to this Chinese restaurant but no one was there we went to the back and found the owner there he had been stabbed" 

"was he ok ?" Buck said as he loaded his plat up 

"honestly if we weren't there i think he would have died he tried to call 911 and they hung up on him"

"no maybe they got disconnected or something "

"that what i thought but I was talking to Josh and we did a little digging this lady i work with well she has hung up on thousands of people" 

"so she is being fired "

"no only that but investigated but the police witch of course is my fault she literally wont stop calling " just then like magic Maddie's phone began to ring off the hook 

the next day the 118 were sent out to a car crash but not any car crash it was gloria the lady who had been hanging up on people of cores the 118 were able to save her.
