Chapter Nine

Felix' POV

Seeing his trembling back as he cried in silence made my heart clenched in pain. I could not understand why I feel this way when my heart already belongs to someone else.

And when I heard his stifled cry, I could not bear it anymore so I fled. I turned around and hurried inside the mansion so I would not hear his cries anymore.

I went back to my room and found Katherine, who was naked and waiting for my return. However, I could no longer feel the urge to sleep with her so I went straight to the shower room and took a cold shower. When I was done, I found her already sleeping in her nightgown.

I sighed deeply, finding myself not happy about what happened. I should be glad and ecstatic in getting her back in my life but why do I feel like something was not right.

With a heavy heart, I laid beside her, with my back at her and tried to sleep and forget the uncomfortable feeling.

The following day, I got out of bed, leaving Katherine who was still sleeping and went out of the room with my night robe on. I passed some of my servants who were busy talking to each other in a hushed tone but quickly stopped when they saw me coming. Brushing their actions off, I headed straight to Telvest room to check on him again.

I knocked on the door and waited for him to open it. Almost five minutes had passed but there was still no sign of him opening the door so I chose to leave him be. I went to the dining hall to eat my breakfast without remembering the woman who was in my room.

I was almost done with my breakfast when she came rushing in the dining room, looking so confused and disappointed.

"Why did you not wake me up for breakfast?" She accused me while heading to the chair at my right side, where Telvest usually occupies.

"Ms. Katherine, that spot is taken. Please take this seat instead." One of my servants told her off and gestured for her to take the seat at my far left.

She looked at the young servant in bewilderment and she acted like she was about to lash out at her.

"Take my seat instead. I am done eating anyway." I interjected and stood up from my seat to offer it to her.

She walked briskly to me and clutched her hands around my waist and placed her head on my chest.

"Can you stay while I eat?" She asked in a sweet voice like she was asking for my affection.

"I have a meeting today. Eat your breakfast and then stroll around to pass your time." I murmured and carefully took her hands away from me.

I did not pay her another glance and headed out of the dining hall. I went straight to my study room where the people who are involved in taking back my conglomerate are already waiting.

I entered the room and found them in a heated conversation but quickly stopped when they noticed my presence.

Frist my servants, and now them? I observed but decided to ignore it.

I walked towards my desk and sat on it. As soon as I had settled in, one of them, Justin, stepped forward and looked at me with a glare. I arched my brow at him and silently asked for him to speak up.

When he saw my reaction, he suddenly sighed and shook his head as if he was trying to calm himself down.

"I had successfully retrieved the document that Katherine, who you have welcomed back, falsified to get your inheritance and give it to your son, no, to her son from another man." He announced with his voice full of contempt.
