Bible's eyes fluttered open, his body aching, though the impact he expected never came. He was lying on a plush bed, the faint scent of leather and smoke lingering in the air. His surroundings were unfamiliar—a dimly lit room adorned with dark wood, red velvet, and gold accents. A safehouse?
Before he could piece it together, the door creaked open. Jes stood there, his figure illuminated by the hallway light. His sharp features were softened in the shadows, but the intensity in his eyes remained.
“You’re awake,” Jes said, stepping into the room, his voice low and gravelly.
Bible sat up quickly, his head spinning. “What… where am I?”
Jes smirked, leaning against the doorframe. “You fell"
Bible’s breath hitched as memories of the rooftop chase rushed back. “You… saved me?” he asked, his voice tinged with disbelief.
Jes shrugged, his smirk deepening. “I couldn’t let you die. Not yet.” He took slow, deliberate steps toward Bible, his eyes never leaving his. “Not until we settle this.”
Bible’s pulse quickened as Jes came closer, his imposing presence filling the room. “Settle what?” he whispered, though he wasn’t sure he wanted the answer.
Jes stopped in front of him, tilting Bible’s chin up with a gloved hand. The touch sent a jolt through Bible’s body, an electric mix of fear and something else—something he wasn’t ready to admit.
“You saw something you shouldn’t have,” Jes murmured, his thumb brushing lightly against Bible’s jaw. “But there’s more to this than just keeping you quiet.”
Bible swallowed hard, his heart pounding against his ribs. “What do you mean?”
Jes’s smirk softened into something more dangerous—a slow, deliberate smile. “You’re intriguing, Bible. Most people would beg, cry, or give up by now. But you ran. You fought. And you’re still here.”
Bible’s breath caught as Jes leaned in, his face mere inches away. “I don’t know whether to kill you,” Jes whispered, his lips brushing against Bible’s ear, “or keep you.”
A shiver ran down Bible’s spine, his body betraying him as heat pooled in his chest. “Keep me?” he managed, his voice barely audible.
Jes pulled back just enough to meet Bible’s eyes, his hand still holding his chin. “Yes,” he said, his voice like velvet. “You’ve been running from me all night. But now… you’re right where I want you.”
Before Bible could respond, Jes closed the distance between them, capturing Bible’s lips in a searing kiss. It was rough and demanding, yet there was an undeniable passion behind it—a fire that burned through Bible’s defenses.
For a moment, Bible resisted, his mind screaming at him to push Jes away. But his body betrayed him, his hands clutching Jes’s shirt as he kissed him back with equal fervor. The room seemed to spin as their breaths mingled, their movements growing more frantic.
Jes broke the kiss, his lips trailing down Bible’s neck, leaving a trail of heat in their wake. “You’re mine now,” Jes murmured against his skin, his voice both a promise and a warning.
Bible’s head tilted back, his resolve crumbling under Jes’s touch. “And if I don’t want to be?” he challenged, though his voice lacked conviction.
Jes chuckled, his teeth grazing Bible’s collarbone. “Then run,” he said, pulling back just enough to look into Bible’s eyes. “But I promise you, Bible—you’ll come back to me.”
Bible stared at him, his chest heaving as he fought to steady his breathing. Deep down, he knew Jes was right. There was no escaping this—no escaping him.
And maybe, just maybe, he didn’t want to.
