After the gathering at Mingyu's farm, everyone settled back to their normal lives. Jennie also settled at Kim Industries. She became more integrated with the Marketing Team.
Her workload also gradually became heavier but it was no problem for her. She was also a boss in her own right. She knew how to delegate tasks to the right people.
Her new assistant at Kim Industries also proved herself to be quite competent. Because the assistant was a Black Star, she was extremely loyal and sincere to Jennie.
This pleased Jennie so much that she already gave her new assistant a bonus from her own pocket. Not on the company's dime, of course. There was no need to attract unnecessary criticism when she just wanted to reward her assistant.
Once again, Jennie followed her own work hours and left as soon as she finished her tasks. Her husband was already waiting in the underground parking lot reserved for the executives of the company.
Lisa was the one driving the car this time.
As soon as they arrived home and before they could even see their twins, the butler handed them a simple yet elegant envelope.
It was a wedding invitation addressed to the husband and wife.
It read, "With joy, we invite you to the wedding of Mingyu and Hoyeon."
Jennie and Lisa looked at each other. They were only surprised for a moment but soon accepted it.
The wedding between Mingyu and Hoyeon was not a question of if but of when. Now that it was finally happening, Jennie and Lisa were happy for the engaged couple, and of course, for their godson.
"They must have already explained it to Little Jun," Jennie murmured. "Yeon said before that she won't marry Eldest Brother until Little Jun becomes comfortable. Now that our godson is even calling Eldest Brother Daddy, Yeon should feel relieved."
"Eldest Brother cares about Little Jun like his own," Lisa said. "I know what kind of man he is like. We grew up together. It takes time for him to warm up to other people, but once he accepts you in his own circle, he'll become very protective of you."
Jennie smiled. "I know."
She experienced it firsthand when she met Lisa's best friends back then.
Jackson was already acquainted with her because he had been coincidentally her Systema instructor. Haruto was also polite to her. Only Mingyu had treated her coldly.
Although Mingyu hadn't outright disrespected her and still hosted her at his farm villa for the sake of Lisa, she still felt his dislike toward her. Fortunately, she hadn't cared much about his attitude back then.
Now look at them.
Mingyu treated her like family.
"As long as Eldest Brother doesn't mistreat Little Jun—I don't think that he would ever do that, then we won't interfere in his marriage with Yeon," Jennie said.
"En." Lisa nodded.
Mingyu is one of his closest brothers, but Lisa would never defend the man if he ever hurt his beloved godson.
Jennie kept the invitation and the couple headed to the nursery. They greeted their twins and took the boys with them to eat a meal.
Later, Jennie called Hoyeon and they talked about the upcoming wedding.
Hoyeon and Little Jin were now half-living between Dragon Palace and Mingyu's place. Whenever Hoyeon had duty at Dragon Palace, the mother and son would live here. Whenever she had the day off, then they would stay at Mingyu's farm villa.
According to her, her son loved living at his Daddy Yu's home. The little guy loved roaming around the property and helping take care of the farm animals.
Mingyu was also very patient in showing the child around and teaching the little guy how to care for the animals.
"Watching the two of them interact made me think that I made the right decision in choosing Mingyu as my husband and partner in life," she confessed to Jennie.
"I'm happy for you, Yeon," Jennie replied.
"Thank you, Ruby. I don't want to be indecisive anymore like how I had been during my relationship with my ex. Unlike Donghwi, Mingyu never made me feel ashamed of the difference in our social status. He also never looked down on my job as a bodyguard. He respects my passion for the career that I chose for myself."
Jennie nodded, agreeing. She was truly happy for her friend.
She continued, "This is why I can't help but fall for a man like him. The moment that Little Jun called him Daddy was also the moment that I knew that...that, uhm, that you know, that I love him. I love him, Ruby."
"Good for you, Yeon. And good for Little Jun. I wish you all the best, especially to my godson."
"Thanks, Ruby. For everything."
"Don't mention it. Lisa and I will always be there for Little Jun and you."
Jennie continued listening to Hoyeon as she talked about her simple wedding plans. It was very rare for this friend of hers to openly share her feelings like this. Jennie was very happy for Hoyeon and hoped that her friend would finally find happiness with the right person.
Hopefully, the right person is Mingyu.
###
At a high-class restaurant.
Jennie led the toast in welcoming Ren Jiyu and a few members of the national shooting team for successfully signing exclusive management contracts with JLV Studio.
"Cheers!"
The press conference earlier that afternoon was a success. Almost all the major media companies sent representatives to cover the event.
Jennie originally planned on attending the press conference in person but her eldest twin son, Little Levi, suddenly vomited in the morning. She was frightened and personally rushed her son to the mansion's hospital wing.
What happened to Little Jun a while back came to mind. She feared that her twin son also got dengue.
