CHAPTER 3
From her class, Yeri hurried back to her room in the dormitory of Enigma University. As she walked, she noticed a strange smell coming from her room. "What could that be?" she asked herself, her nose wrinkling at the unpleasant odor.
Pagbukas niya ng pinto, ang kanyang mga mata ay lumaki sa takot. Sa ilalim ng kanyang kama, may nakahandusay na katawan. "Diyos ko!" sigaw niya, ang kanyang boses ay puno ng takot. She immediately ran out of the room, her heart racing with fear and shock.
"Tulungan niyo ako! May patay!" sigaw niya sa mga estudyante sa labas, ang kanyang boses ay nanginginig.
Mabilis na tumawag si Yeri sa mga pulis, ang kanyang mga kamay ay nanginginig habang sinasabi ang nangyari. "Kailangan niyo pong pumunta dito! May patay sa dormitoryo!"
Habang nag-aantay siya, ang mga estudyante sa paligid ay nagtipon, ang kanilang mga mata ay puno ng takot at pag-aalala. Si Zola, Kei, at Florence ay naroon din, naguguluhan sa mga pangyayari.
"What happened?" Zola asked, her voice filled with concern.
"There's a dead body! In Yeri's room!" Kei replied, his eyes darting around, worried about what might happen.
Moments later, they heard the sound of police sirens. Five police officers quickly descended the stairs toward the dormitory, their faces serious and focused. Students gathered around, their eyes filled with fear and worry.
"Over here! Over here!" Yeri shouted, pointing to her room. The police rushed inside, while the students waited outside, their hearts pounding rapidly.
After a few minutes, the police officers emerged, but their faces were puzzled. "Where's the body?" one of them asked, his voice filled with doubt. "There's nothing here. The room is clean. No blood, no signs of any struggle."
"But... I saw it! It was under my bed!" Yeri cried, her eyes filled with fear. "I'm not joking!"
"There's no smell, no body," replied another officer, his tone growing more serious. "We need to check the details. Come with us, Miss. We need to get your full report."
As Yeri left with the police, the students began to murmur among themselves, fear spreading across their faces.
"Ano ang nangyayari?" tanong ni Florence, nanginginig. "Bakit wala na ang katawan?"
"Baka may masamang espiritu dito," sabi ng isang estudyante, ang kanyang boses ay puno ng takot. "Dapat tayong umalis dito!"
Habang ang mga estudyante ay nag-uusap, napansin ni Zola si Kiezer na nakatayo sa isang sulok, tahimik na nanonood. Walang emosyon sa kanyang mukha, tila alam na niya ang mangyayari. Ang kanyang presensya ay nagdulot ng labis na takot kay Zola.
"Bakit parang wala siyang pakialam?" tanong ni Zola sa sarili, nagdududa. "Bakit parang alam niya ang lahat?"
"Zola, anong gagawin natin?" tanong ni Kei, nag-aalala. "Ayaw kong manatili dito. Baka may mangyaring masama sa atin."
"Hindi ko alam," sagot ni Zola, naguguluhan. "Pero kailangan nating malaman ang katotohanan. Hindi tayo pwedeng umalis na walang kasiguraduhan."
"Baka mas mabuti pang umalis na tayo," sabi ni Florence, ang boses ay halos pabulong. "Baka may mas masama pang mangyari."
But despite the fear, there was a part of Zola that couldn't hold back. Her desire to uncover the truth was stronger than the fear she felt.
