"Ok...Here's what happened." Charlie said with a sigh.
I looked her straight in the eye. She knew that i wasn't going to leave her until she told the truth.

"Last night...was great. Until someone decided to play dares. It was funny at first and then this boy, who was quite cute dared me to jump in the lake. I said no that's stupid. So in the end we settled that we would dip our feet in, and see who could keep them in the water for the longest, because apparently it's freezing cold. So I did it. And that's when some slithery thing wrapped around my ankle, I screamed out and kicked it was really scaring me. The boy was reassuring me, but it still didn't work. I could here some girls behind me giggling. Bitches! Amy said that I didn't have to do the dare she was about to pull me up, when some really drunk kid staggering and slurring thought Amy was in trouble. He tried to help but that made it worse! He stumbled and all of us fell in. Everything went blurry, my jeans were pulling me down I tried so hard to swim back up. And that's when a sharp pointy thing cut across my foot. I screamed out in pain, but what was the point? No one could here me. That's when I saw memories flash before my eyes. When we were young! When you were a baby Lola!"

Her eyes were dreamy, but my eyes stung; this can't be true! She wiped away a tear and carried on.
"An arm wrapped around my waist and pulled me up. The memories that were in front of me disappeared. I could breath again, I was coughing and spluttering, I was soo scared! The person who saved me was the boy who dared me. His name is Oscar, he pulled me onto the side, everyone was crowding round me. I took some deep breathes, Amy was holding my hand squeezing it occasionally. I was given some coffee and after a half an hour I seemed fine i needed to get home, i felt embarrassed and stupid, pathetic. I thanked Oscar and ran home."

I froze. My blood was fizzing Cold spiky, shivers slithered down my spine, I stared at Charlie who looked away, she was desperate to find a distraction, I don't think she'd mind if she was swallowed by the floor!

"You need to tell someone Charlie, you're ill!"

She froze and stared right at me.

"No...No because I don't want anyone to know! If you tell someone Lola I'll never forgive you, I'll do much worse things, like run away from home. Seriously you don't know how bad this is! I don't want anyone to know. I knew you wouldn't understand!"

"I do!" I exclaimed "Just tell someone, because lets face it, I'm not going to be much help!" I was yelling now I was angry, scared. But I was right I only did life-guard lessons, but they'll come in use after it was to late! Oh god! What a mess! I wanted the whole thing to be a dream, to wake up and everything would be normal. But it wasn't a dream. It was reality and that was the scary thing!
