Katrina
I could barely hear Milli Vanilli's Blame It On The Rain from my earphones because of my heavy breathing. My rubber shoes were crunching against the fine, white sand of the Ypao beach. The refreshing salt air hits my skin and burns my lungs at the same time. My eyes were on Vlanca's moving torso dahil walang kapaguran ang gaga na tumakbo dito sa coastline. Nag-aya siya kahapon na mag-light jogging daw kami dito bago kami pumasok sa ospital. Püta, keywoard; light jog, pero ginawa namang marathon ng gaga sa sobrang bilis niyang tumakbo ngayon. The sand sticking on my bare legs trying to keep up with her.
My body burns with sweat, it doesn't even help that I'm only wearing a pair of Nike shorts and a sport's bra, while my brown hair is neatly pulled back in a ponytail—-I still feel hot. Samantalang fresh na fresh naman si Vlanca kahit na balot siya sa suot niyang Lululemon leggings at black zip-up fitted jacket.
"Pucha, gorl. Sandali! hindi ka ba hinihingal?"
My feet stopped moving and I completely pulled my earphones off and shoved them inside my pocket with my phone. This Filipina-Italian bîtch just laughed at me as she jogged back to where I am at.
"Paano naman akong hihingalin kung araw-araw kaming nagbu-boombayah ng asawa ko. Everyday and literally three times a day and I have zero complaints." She shrugged. "I mean, look at my skin," She even used the back of her hand to gesture to her smooth, glowing sun-kissed skin. Her green eyes gleaming with such undeniable delight. She's always in a good mood, gosh.
"Sige, inggitin mo pa ako." I rolled my eyes at her.
A certain someone who I shouldn't be even thinking about with the topic of séx crossed my mind. Kat. God. Stop it. He is twenty-one for crying out loud.
"Three times a day, which means you do it in the hospital..." Pinandilatan ko siya.
She hissed.
"Hm, does the hospital parking lot count?"
I threw my head back and jokingly hit her arm.
"Gaga ka talaga."
"I don't say anything when the residents do it in the on-call rooms. I mean, none of my business if it doesn't affect patient care." She shrugged as we slowly walked. "Being on top helps a lot with cardio, let me tell you."
Napailing naman ako.
"I don't want to know, mare. My séx life's just as nonexistent as my love life."
"I see. No casual dating? Fúck buddy?"
I shook my head.
"Wala pa akong nahahanap na worthy para dito sa juicylicious body-yadi-yadi-ya ko."
"Taray gorl, maka-juicy to. Jollibee ka ba?"
I bursted out laughing.
"How about women?"
"Believe me, I tried. I am just attracted to hot, pulsating sausages, unfortunately."
"Not even that cute neurosurgeon from Chicago?"
Nanlaki naman ang mga mata ko.
"Who?----Jackson Smith?" Kunot noong tanong ko.
"Yup. Kiel told me that he got an email from him last night, asking if we have an opening." She said,
He's the head of neurosurgery in Chicago, he can't be giving that up to follow me here?
"And that he is willing to take ANY salary, as long as we hire him. He said that it's because of our new emergency medical director." She gave me a look.
