This is it... The day when I will leave Antarctica.
Andrew's words he said when I first arrived are still in my head.
I can't believe I will really leave Antarctica today, but I risked everything to be able to do this even though I don't think anyone out of my family is alive. Now I remember the dream I had before about finding my dead family. It seems like I never believed myself that they're alive. Maybe I just wanna leave this place to be able to live again, because I'll never be able to live a proper life here.

Veronica: Hi, you're awake?

Josh: Yeah... Good morning.

Veronica: Good morning. Wow, yesterday I just directly fell asleep.

Josh: So true. I laugh

Veronica: So, we're leaving today?

Josh: Yes, I think so.
It's time. We decided this already in the beginning of this journey.

Veronica: Yeah, we did and what about Andrew?

Josh: It's his decision if he wants to go or stay. I won't force him... Forcing him will just cause problems no one needs right now.

The sun rises, and we go outside, drinking some tea we made ourselves as we look at the beauty of Antarctica. The large ocean without a horizon in front of us while being surrounded by the cold and snowy landscape.

Andrew: Morning... You two.

I smile as I see him standing next to us.

Andrew: A wonderful morning, isn't it?

Veronica: It truly is.

Veronica looks at Andrew, waiting for him to tell us that he wants to go with us, and to be honest, I want the exact same thing.

After what felt like an eternity, I decided to ask him, but he said it himself already.

Andrew: I... I will stay. I just need to stay.

Josh: It's okay, I understand.

Veronica goes back inside and starts preparing for our journey.

Josh: I will go and help her.

Andrew: Wait... Why do you still want to go after your father died? Your hope is lost, and you don't know where your family is.

I smirk.

Josh: That's true...  I won't search for my family.

Andrew: What?

He looks at me like I went insane.

Josh: I just want to live. Maybe we will find other people and a place we can live in. There's no life left in Antarctica.

Andrew: I won't argue with you anymore.
I just won't. I just hope you won't die because of your idea.

Josh: I prefer to risk my life with the chance to live a life where I will never run away from my problems like I did my whole life. I'm just sick of running away from them, and... I came to Antarctica because I wanted to run away from my problems. It's enough.

Andrew: I understand.

I just smile at him and hug him one last time.

We prepare the ship to leave Antarctica finally. It's not the largest ship, but it has enough gas to reach the United States. Veronica and I are in the ship already after we checked everything.

Josh: I guess we're ready.

I smile at Veronica.

Veronica: We definitely are...

She slowly goes to Andrew, hugs him, and says sorry for being so mean to him before.

Veronica: I'm sorry, Andrew. You don't deserve being all alone. I just hope that I'm not the reason you want to stay.

Andrew just smirks.

Andrew: It's alright... It didn't bother me so much.
But it's better for me if I stay.

He just smiles at her and looks towards me for a second as he waves at Veronica.

Veronica: Goodbye, Andrew.

She walks back into the ship as I walk towards Andrew.

Josh: Well, that's the end, my good friend.

Andrew: Yeah it truly is, isn't it?

Josh: You're a good friend, Andrew.

I hand him a map with the way we two will take marked on it.

Josh: If you ever change your mind, you can always follow us.

Andrew: I won't change my mind so soon. But thanks for thinking about me.

Josh: Yeah, goodbye

Andrew: Wait... The world there will be dangerous, and it's possible you'll need to do things you don't like. If you're not ready to kill to protect yourself, you shouldn't go.

Josh: I... I think I'm ready.

Andrew: Okay... If you kill someone, it will change you forever.

Josh: I can imagine that, but I can't stay in Antarctica forever, and I always wanted to have a boat trip...

I smirk and we both laugh for a few seconds.

As the silence appears again, I decide to say what I wanted to say before.

Josh: Andrew, the supplies you have here are enough for a few years, but that's it. I don't know what you'll do after that.

Andrew: That icebreaker has some supplies left.

I roll my eyes.

Josh: Take the other ship and find us. You can't stay here forever.

Andrew: I know...

Andrew smiles at me and hugs me as I finally say goodbye and Veronica and I leave.

We wave at him while we drive away on the boat. Driving away from our home and the place that has grown up to our hearts.

Veronica: I will miss Antarctica...

Josh: Me too...

Veronica: So, the United States of America, huh?

Josh: Yeah, that's where we're going.

Veronica: You wanna find your family?

I just smirk.

Josh: Not really, to be honest. I just wanna have an adventure with you.

Veronica laughs at this a bit.

Veronica: Me too. Sounds like a nice idea.

Josh: And anyway, it's time to face my problems finally, instead of running away from them like I always did.

Veronica: You're right. I can learn from you, Josh.

Veronica holds my hand as we drive towards the United States.

Josh: Wanna make a stop in Florida and swim on the beach?

Veronica: What a wonderful idea.

She laughs.

That's the end of our journey. Well, at least I'm not alone, and I have Veronica with me.
Goodbye, Antarctica.
