Harry pov

Today was New Years Day. A few days ago I had received gifts from England. They were from Molly, Ginny, Ron, and Hermoine.

All of them had been dosed in potions, and there had been multiple spells on them as well. It was safe to say that I didn't even touch them before I threw them in the fire.

Remus had also sent a letter, but I had given it to Sirius to read. It was a letter that said  I should come back and that I should stop with this 'tantrum'.

Sirius had only snorted before he threw in the fire together with the gifts I had gotten. Sirius had also received a letter from Dumbledore that basically said he should give himself up to the British ministry. It had compelling spells on them to make him really do it, but we had easily cancelled them.

Now we were in the ministry. Every year on New Years Day  gave the Empress a speech. That was going to happen this year as well, of course, but it will also be the time I will be crowned Crown Prince.

Standing with me were the girls. They would be crowned princess because they were my mates. That was also the only reason they would be crowned today. If we weren't mates, they wouldn't we crowned unless we married. But because mates can't abandon each other, has an exception been made.

I listened to the speech of Empress Mei and smiled as I heard how good she was at speaking. She was really old but hadn't lost the way she spoke over her long reign. She had been the Empress for the last 150 years, making her one of the longest ruling monarchs of Magical Japan.

"But everyone knows I am old. People have been talking about searching for a successor because everyone knows I don't have much time anymore here on earth. 10 years ago, my family was assassinated when I wasn't home, leaving me the only survivor of the family. But recently, I found something very surprising. More than 2000 years ago, a member of the royal family left Japan and created a new line. The last survivor of this line is here today. This person will be succeeding me, and today, I will crown him the crown prince."

Silence. No one said anything as the people finally understood her words. They had believed their imperial line would die out with the death of the Empress, but suddenly,  they had a prince once again.

The people didn't say a thing as Empress Mei started speaking again. "Today, the last member of the Potter family from Britain will take the title of crown prince. I give you, Harry James Potter!"

I opened the door from where we had been waiting and walked forward. The girls would stay behind until they were called.

I slowly walked to Empress Mei, aware that every pair of eyes was on me. They were watching me, but I noticed that none of them were judging. They didn't seem to care that I was born in another country, although it didn't really matter since I was blood related to Mei.

I stopped in front of the Empress and kneeled down. The crowing would now begin, although there wasn't an actual crown. I was happy with that, I didn't want to walk around with a crown all day.

Instead, it would be with a katana. A sworn oath to the country. It was a simple ceremony, one that didn't involve too much useless talk and ceremony.

I didn't look up as she started speaking. "I, Empress Mei of Japan, ask lady magic to watch this ceremony. It is time for a new crown prince to be crowned. Harry James Potter is here to be crowned." She stopped talking for a few seconds, and I felt the power of magic flowing around. I knew that magic itself was judging me.

"Do you, Harry James Potter, promise you will lead and protect the country as its crown prince, even at the cost of your own life?" She asked. "Yes, I promise."
