Chapter 9
Jungkook didn't expect this, but for some reason, his parents visited his place once again but this time without Aera. It's weird, considering the fact that they mostly would visit him if they wanted Aera to get close to him. Well, he just let this one slide because he can't simply push them away, though he wishes he could.
“Seriously, what's with the sudden visit? At least try to tell me first before you two randomly come to my house.” Jungkook sighed, running his fingers through his hair.
He was standing, facing his parents in front of him.
“There's nothing wrong with that, right? We're your parents, of course, we would like to know your situation.” Geonwoo smiled. “Besides, it's not like you won't forget the next day if we tell you that we will visit.” he added with a mockery in his tone.
“That's not enough reason to randomly show up to my house.” Jungkook was so done with them. “my staff would feel uncomfortable if they didn't serve you two in the right way.” he said.
“Oh, don't worry, there's nothing to worry about. Your mother just wanted to see Taehyung.” Geonwoo grinned.
“And why would you do that, Mom?” Jungkook looked confusedly at his mother, Sunhee.
“Don't ask too many questions,” Sunhee simply replied. “Mrs. Singh, go and tell Taehyung to come here now.” she told the maid.
Mrs. Singh bowed her head before proceeding to leave to call Taehyung.
“Mom, Taehyung had done nothing wrong, okay? So please don't try to humiliate him or something.” Jungkook immediately defended Taehyung.
“What are you talking about? I just wanted to see him, there's nothing wrong with that.” Sunhee nonchalantly replied.
“It's weird, you act like that when you were about to scold someone.” Jungkook retorted.
“And, you've never acted like this as well, I mean, standing up for someone.” Sunhee shot back. “Is he someone important to you, no?” she asked him.
Jungkook felt heat going up to his face. He looked down while rubbing the back of his neck.
“I-It's not like that, I just wanted you to be gentle to him. He's my new employee, that's just it...” Jungkook's voice was almost inaudible.
He was feeling shy for some obvious reason and his heart was making things he somehow enjoyed.
“Madam, Kim Taehyung is here.” Mrs. Singh finally appeared with Kim Taehyung trailing behind her.
She moved aside and Taehyung slightly walked in front of her with confusion written in his face.
“You can leave, for now, Mrs. Singh. Give us some privacy.” Sunhee told her and Mrs. Singh obeyed.
“Ahm, may I ask what's the reason you called me for?” Taehyung inquired with a hint of anxiety in his tone.
He was startled when Sunhee stepped in front of him and started to act as if scanning him. Even Jungkook seemed to be confused about whatever was running in her brain right now. He just hoped Taehyung wouldn't get scolded because he would feel bad for him.
“Hmm, he's not bad.” Sunhee suddenly said and Taehyung was relieved when she moved backward, away from him. “He passed my vibe now; I wanted to meet his family, then.”
That sentence confused Taehyung even more.
“Huh?!” that was Jungkook and Taehyung's synchronized reaction to her.
“What? What's wrong if I want to meet my future in-laws?” Sunhee questioned them.
“Mom!” Jungkook was surprised and went in between them, slightly but gently pushing her away from Taehyung. “W-what are you up to?!” he stuttered because he felt embarrassed.
“I'm sorry? But did you just call my parents future in-laws? What do you mean by that?” Taehyung spoke to ask that question.
“What? Is Jungkook not courting you? I was told you are going to be his boyfr─”
Geonwoo covered her mouth and pulled her closer to him.
“I apologize, my wife was just out of her mind for a moment. Please don't mind her.” Geonwoo tried to cover it up.
Jungkook was embarrassed, he couldn't believe that his mother was straight to the point of saying something like that.
“H-hyung, you can actually leave now. Mom was just acting up; I'm sorry for wasting your time.” he apologized on behalf of his mother.
“I see, I'll continue my chores then.” he awkwardly responded and left.
“What's wrong with the two of you?!” Sunhee inquired the moment Geonwoo let go of her mouth.
“Why would you say that to him?” Jungkook asked her back with frustration in his tone.
“Because he's your boyfriend? Of course, I had to meet his parents so we can talk about the preparation of your engagement, isn't that a normal way to do it?” Sunhee seemed to be confused.
Jungkook was done while Geonwoo was chuckling while listening to them.
“What are you laughing for?” Sunhee questioned him and smacked his chest.
“Honey, did you realize that your intention was weird? Why would you want them to prepare for engagement?” Geonwoo laughed.
“Oh, come on, it's better to prepare early before Jungkook wastes his chance to have a partner. And if they get married, that's much better.” Sunhee told them with seriousness.
“Honey, please don't forget where the country we are in. It's not possible you know.” Geonwoo giggled, finding the situation funny.
“So what? We can fly them to America or somewhere where same-sex marriage exists; it's not a big problem as long as they can get married; I'll be happy with that.” Sunhee was seriously serious right now but confused about her husband and son's reaction.
“Mom, he's not my boyfriend, for God's sake; where did you get that information from?” Jungkook sighed.
“Your father told me you have an interest in someone, but that happened to be the same gender as you. I thought you were just embarrassed to introduce him to us as your boyfriend, isn't that right?” Sunhee told him.
“They're not in a relationship yet, Honey. You're way step ahead of them.” Geonwoo couldn't really stop laughing.
“Then what are you waiting for? Go and court him; don't reason that you're embarrassed; you're not pathetic, okay? Don't lose your chance; he's the most gorgeous person who exists, so better grab him, do you understand?” she literally said while putting her hands on top of Jungkook's shoulder.
Jungkook shook his head in disappointment while his father just kept laughing at whatever his mother was saying right now. He couldn't believe that this would be their reaction.
