Angelina Dupri loved Madame Mitsuri Kanroji's ballet class at the old theater in Paris with her human friend, Tanjiro Kamado, her love interest.
The lessons were always fun, Tanjiro's favorite part was when they danced to the music from Madame Kanroji's marvelous music box.
One day, Madame Kanroji said, "My darlings, let us listen to the music from The Sleeping Beau ballet. I want you all to imagine you are fairies!"
Madame Kanroji opened the box and sparkly music filled the air. The little ballerina inside the box began to twirl, and Angelina, Tanjiro and his friends danced the pretty fairies.
"Please tell us the story of Sleeping Beau." said Tanjiro.
"Yeah, tell us!" added Angelina.
"Well," said Madame Kanroji, "his name was Prince Aurelio and he was born in a fairytale palace..."
"Prince Aurelio's christening was a joyous event. Good fairies gathered and bestowed gifts of beauty and grace. But then, disaster! The bad fairy arrived. Furious not to be invited to the palace, he cast an evil—on his sixteenth birthday, Aurelio would prick his finger on a spindle and die!"
"How terrible!" gasped Angelina and the swordsmen.
"Ah, but the kind Lilac Fairy still had a gift to give," smiled Madame Kanroji. "He changed the spell so that Aurelio wouldn't die, but would sleep for a hundred years, only to be woken by a princess's kiss!"
"And did the princess come?" asked Tanjiro.
"My dear, there isn't time for the whole story today," smiled Madame Kanroji, closing the music box. "It's nearly time to go home,"
The other swordsmen went to get their coats, but Angelina stayed behind on the stage...
When he was all alone with Angelina, Tanjiro opened the music box, just like magic, the music started and Angelina and Tanjiro found they were dancing...
The music seemed to surround Angelina and Tanjiro, and then a tiny lilac light lit the music box. It grew brighter and brighter until Angelina and Tanjiro saw a fairy floating toward them!
"I'm the Lilac Fairy," he smiled. "Shall we go?"
"Go where? gasped Angelina and Tanjiro.
"To Prince Aurelio's sixteenth birthday party, of course." said the Lilac Fairy.
The Lilac Fairy led Angelina and Tanjiro into a palace garden, and there was Prince Aurelio!
As he danced, everyone agreed that he had grown to be the most handsome prince they'd ever seen. But then an old man shuffled out of the shadows with a gift for Aurelio—a spindle!
Angelina and Tanjiro remembered the bad fairy's spell.
"Don't touch it!" they called.
But Aurelio didn't hear. He graciously took the spindle and danced.
Suddenly, he pricked his finger!
Aurelio's dance became faster and faster,
until he fell to the floor!
The old man threw off his cloak. It was the bad fairy! He vanished in a flash before anyone could catch him.
"Carry Aurelio to the tallest tower," said the Lilac Fairy sadly. "There he will sleep for one hundred years."
"But what about everyone else?" wondered Tanjiro.
"We'll put a spell on them, too." whispered the Lilac Fairy.
"that means put them to sleep." added Angelina
Tanjiro took the Lilac Fairy's hand and Angelina grab him behind and they began to fly. It was like dancing in the air! They spinkled a spell over the whole palace, and soon everyone had fallen fast asleep.
Roses began to grow up the tallest tower where Aurelio slept, and around the palace a magic forest grew.
"When will the princess come?" asked Tanjiro
"Will we have to wait one hundred years, too?" added Angelina.
The Lilac Fairy laughed. "Not with a little more magic!" And as he waved his wand, one hundred years raced by...
Angelina and Tanjiro saw they were now in another kingdom. A dashing princess was riding toward them. The Lilac Fairy told her the sad tale of Prince Aurelio, asleep in the tower.
"Will you help him?" asked Angelina.
"Of course," said the princess. "It would be an honor."
"We'll show you the way!" Tanjiro.
They led the princess to the magic forest. She slashed through the rosebushes with her gleaming sword. Even though the thorns tore at her, she didn't stop until she found Aurelio's tower.
Cently, she kissed Aurelio, and slowly, softly he opened his eyes and smiled. It was love at first sight.
As soon as Aurelio awoke, the magic forest vanished and the whole palace leapt back to life.
"I love it when my spells work," the Lilac Fairy. "Let's take a peek at their wedding!"
What a wedding it was!
There was music and feasting, with guests from all corners of the fairytale kingdom!
"Thank you for your help," said the Lilac Fairy.
"Now they will live happily ever after!"
"Thank you for a magical tune!" said Tanjiro.
"I just love happy ending!" cried Angelina, shedding a tear or two.
The Lilac Fairy lifted his wand once more and the palace was filled with lilac light and swirling music...
Then suddenly the music stopped, and Angelina and Tanjiro found themselves alone on the dark stage. Tanjiro gently closed the lid of the music box.
"There you are!" said Madame Kanroji, giving Tanjiro his cape. "Your brothers and sisters are waiting."
"Can we listen to your music box next time?" asked Tanjiro.
"Of course," said Madame Kanroji. "We'll play a different time, shall we?"
"I'd like that!" sad Tanjiro.
"Me too!" added Angelina.
And, humming as he went, Tanjiro danced with his brothers and sisters all the way home.
