The soft stirrings of the morning light seeped through the curtains, casting pale
moonbeams across the room. Kongpob slowly blinked his eyes open, the remnants of sleep still clinging to his mind. His pillow felt nice and warm but a tad bit hard, so he tried to adjust it with his hand. A sudden rush of panic flooded him when his hand touched something soft, warm, hard and moving.
Kongpob splayed his palm open to gauge the object and almost jumped with shock after realizing where he was. His heart began to race as he felt a steady beat underneath his palm.
Kong gulped, he brusquely gazed downwards at his pillow, which turned out to be General of Rasina !'
He had been lying on general Arthit's chest!
He used the esteemed general as his pillow ! How scandalous and utterly embarrassing. He must remember to apologize tomorrow as soon as the general starts his day.
He quickly began to shift, his body stiffening in sudden alarm, trying to gently lift his head without disturbing the sleeping general beneath him.
But the moment lifted his gead off the general's chest, Arthit stirred.
The change was immediate.
In a fluid motion, Arthit turned on his side while winding his arm around Kongpob once again, pulling him back into the safe circle of his embrace.
Kongpob's breath caught in his throat. His head was cradled in one of general's arm while the other arms was wound around his lower back to stop him from rolling down. There was no escape, no way to move, not when alpha Arthit's body held him so firmly - going as far as locking his leg over Kongpob's.
He had no choice but to remain there, nestled against him, his face pressed into the warmth of Arthit's chest, hearing his steady heartbeat; his fingers tangled in general's outer robe.
The weight of his arm around Kongpob felt as comforting as it was suffocating.
Arthit's sleep was far from disturbed by Kongpob's movement. In fact, it was the omega's panic that seemed to reach him even through his sleep. He instinctively released a calming scent, one that seemed to seep into Kongpob's very bones, coaxing his racing heart to slow, his breath to steady. The bitter panic that had gripped him slowly began to fade, replaced by a quiet sense of wonder, a soft sense of awe. He no longer felt confined by Arthit's embrace but rather, enveloped in something far more soothin and warm. Like fluffy furs princess Lena wore.
Still, Kongpob couldn't help the lingering thoughts that danced in his mind. It felt like a scene from one of those novels he read. Was it the bear shifter one ? He clearly remembers, the bear shifter alpha loved to sleep with his petite mate on his chest. And Kongpob always wondered how the alpha didn't suffocate?
Or omega didn't end up rolling down or the alpha turning to his side and crushing the omega.
Guess he has the answer now - probably the bear alphas are caring and protective even in their sleep. Atleast General Rojanapat is.
A part of Kongpob's mind enjoyed the fact that there exist alphas Like those heroes in the books he read.
In the book, when the omega sleeping in alpha's embrace stirred awake, they always panicked first and then took a good look at the alpha - observing all the features in great detail. That thought made him realise, he had never truly looked at General Arthit before. Not like this. Not from such a close distance.
The general was fairly well built and handsome in general. But, under the moonlight he looked like he ws carved from white marble by the sculptors of gods themselves.
With the moonlight casting a soft glow on the general's features, Arthit appeared almost otherworldly. The sharp lines of his jaw, the way his almond-shaped eyes seemed to hold the entire night sky in them even when closed, the straightness of his nose that led to lips that looked like soft, pale pink petals... They were the type of lips he had read about in the forbidden romance novels, the kind that made one think sinful things.
