"You guys can go ahead and go, I'll be there in a minute." I told Sophie and Ana. They stepped outside and got into the car.

It was finally Sunday which meant that we were going to the lake.

I walked into the kitchen and grabbed my Mom's car keys. Eyeing the phone, I walked over to it and dialed the numbers.

"Hello?" Corey's Mom spoke.

I thought she wasn't going to be home? I said to myself.

"Hi, Mrs. Haim, it's Brinleigh. Is Corey home?" I questioned.

"Oh, hello Brin! Yes he's home, I'll go get him." She said and the line was silent for a few moments.

"Hello?" Corey's voice said from the other line, startling me.

"Hey, Cor." I said, quietly.

"Oh, hey Brin, um what's up?" He laughed, weirdly.

"About to go to the lake, I just wanted to call and make sure your babysitting was going good." I said. "You are babysitting, right?"

"Well, actually my Mom got home early so she took my niece- cousin!-" He corrected himself "-back to her house."

"Oh, okay. Do you want to come with us, then?"

"No, I'm good. Thanks though. That babysitting really has gotten me tired." He yawned.

"Okay, well I talk to you tomorrow, then. Bye." I said and hung up. I walked outside, locking the front door, and over to my Mom's car.

"Took you long enough." Ana said, as I handed the keys to her. She was the only one who had her license.

I got in the passenger side with Sophie sitting in the backseat behind me.

"You all have bathing suits and towels right?" I asked before we left.

"Hell yeah, now let's go!" Ana said and started to speed towards the lake.

"Can I tell you guys something?" I asked Sophie and Ana as we were sitting down on the dock.

"Of course." They shook their heads.

"I think Corey lied to me."

"How?" Ana asked.

"Well, he said that he couldn't come because he had to babysit his niece but then he changed it to his cousin. I called him before we left and his Mom answered the phone, so why would he have to babysit if his parents are home?" I explained. "And when she handed the phone to Corey, I asked him if he was still babysitting, and he said that his Mom got home early and took his cousin home, but he still didn't want to come to the lake."

"There's two possible answers, either he's lying or telling the truth-"

"Well, duh!" Ana interrupted Sophie.

"It just seems suspicious." I told them.

"I bet that he had to actually watch his cousin and all of what he said was true, you're just over thinking it." Sophie said.

"I bet he's lying." Ana disagreed.

"Ana!" Sophie gave her a stern look, and Ana shrugged. Sophie then looked back to me, and said

"You'll never know until you ask him."

"But I don't want to seem like a loon, if he's telling the truth." I said.

"All I would do is just ask, it's all you can do to see if he's lying or not." Ana suggested. I thought about what they said for a few seconds.

"You know what, you're right! Come on, the sooner we get home, the sooner I can ask." I told them. I hopped up, and walked to the car.
