VENUS' POV
The van came to a sudden stop, jerking me forward. My heart pounded in my ears as the doors flew open. Strong hands grabbed my arms, dragging me out of the van before I could protest. The cold air hit my skin, and I tried to shake off the dizziness.
I was shoved through a heavy door and into a sleek, dimly lit office. The walls were dark, the furniture expensive, and everything felt... wrong. Too luxurious for someone like me. My pulse quickened as I scanned the room, but my gaze landed on him.
Fenix.
He was standing by a desk, his expression unreadable, his eyes dark with something I couldn't place. He didn't move as his men pushed me forward. His presence was overwhelming, suffocating, like he owned every inch of the room-and maybe even me.
"Venus," he said, his voice low, sharp. "You're finally here."
My breath caught. This was the man who'd been pulling the strings, the one who'd dragged me into his world. I clenched my fists, doing my best not to show how scared I really was.
"*Why am I here?*"
He laughed coldly, stepping around the desk toward me.
"Don't play dumb, Venus."His tone was sharp, cutting through the air.
"You saw something you shouldn't have."
My stomach dropped, memories of the alley flooding back. The blood, the body, him. I took a shaky step back, but his men were right behind me, their presence suffocating.
"You've put yourself in my crosshairs," Fenix continued, his eyes dark with fury.
"And trust me, you don't want to be there." He says.
"*Please...*" I whispered, my voice trembling as I stepped back.
"*I didn't mean to see anything. I won't tell anyone, I swear. Just let me go.*"
Fenix's cold gaze bore into mine, unrelenting. He said nothing for a moment, the silence stretching unbearably. Finally, he scoffed, running a hand over his jaw, his frustration simmering just beneath the surface.
"*You're lucky,*" he muttered, his voice sharp like a blade.
"*If it were anyone else, you'd already be dead.*"*
I froze, my heart pounding so hard I thought it might burst. His words were clear: I wasn't walking out of this because of mercy-I was walking out because he let me.
Fenix stepped closer, his towering frame casting a shadow over me.
"*I'll let you go,*" he said, his tone dark, "*but don't think for a second this is over. Soon, Venus, you'll owe me.*"*My stomach sank as his words hung heavy in the air. I could feel the weight of the unspoken promise in his voice.
"*Take her out of here,*" he ordered his men without sparing me another glance. "*But mark my words-this isn't the last time we'll meet.*"*
I didn't know what was coming but I definitely knew that it wasn't something good.
