Christmas decorations ❄️🎄

The base was petty warm tonight. The hum of a hastily repaired generator filled the air,
N threw himself on the couch, his legs crossed and his face lit up in wonder as he stared at a small pile of gifts they both somehow managed to put together. "So… Christmas is basically all about giving others stuff?" he asked, tilting his head in confusion,

"Sort of..?" Uzi replied from across the room, adjusting a string of lights around the tree. Her voice was casual, but the effort she’d put into all this betrayed her grumpy exterior. "It’s about spending time with people who don’t suck and, I don’t know.. trying to not be miserable for once, i guess".

N nodded enthusiastically. "That’s nice! It’s like a friendship upgrade. But why the tree? What's special about it?"

"Jeez i think it's because humans thought it looked cool" Uzi said with a shrug. "Stop asking stupid questions or it'll get dumb really fast"

N chuckled at Uzi's response, his golden eyes glowing softly as he watched her play around with the decorations, there was something about Uzi’s determination to make the day special that made him feel relieved, even if she tried to hide it behind her usual Attitude..

As Uzi stepped back to admire her masterpiece, N looked at the tree "Wow!You’re really good at this... holiday..? stuff, Uzi!"

She scoffed, embarrassed. "It’s really just some junk I found around.. don’t make it weird."

"I think it’s really cool that you tried so hard"

Uzi paused, her usual snark softening for a moment. "Well, someone had to after all"

N grinned, rubbing the back of his head. "Okay, fair."

"Heyy uzi.. I got you something!" N said suddenly, his voice brighter than usual

Uzi turned to him, confused with a slight blush across her visor "What? Seriously?"

"YEP" N pulled out a small package and held it out to her. "Merry Christmas Uzi!"

She stared at the present, her expression filled with curiosity "You.. wrapped this?"

"Yeah! Well..! kind of.. V helped me a bit"

Uzi took the gift, unwrapping the layers of paper to reveal a small, piece of..drone..metal shaped into a star. It wasn’t perfect, its edges were rough, and it was clearly made in a rush

"It’s for the tree" N explained, his smile wide and hopeful

For a long moment, Uzi kept quiet, her fingers tracing the edges of the star, finally, she looked up at N, a small forming on her lips. "Thanks, N. It’s actually kind of cool, pretty sick!"

N smiled as uzi climbed onto a chair and placed the star at the top of the christmas tree. When she got down, they both stood back to admire it

"See? It's Perfect!!" N said, nudging her lightly while chuckling

"Yeah.." Uzi agreed, her voice quieter now. "Pretty sick"

As the snow fell outside, Uzi glanced at N, her purple eyes soft. "Um..hey N?"

"Yes Uzi?"

"Thanks for not making this Christmas...well..suck ass"

He chuckled, "you're welcome buddy!"

And as they sat together by the glowing tree, their hands intertwined, slowly falling asleep on the couch next to eachother.
