I ran down the dark alley; dodging homeless men and trash cans as I held on to my book bag for dear life. The heavy footsteps behind me started to decrease and the men cursing grew louder. I pushed the rusty gate open at the end of the ally, ran up the stairs and across the street into another alley towards the train station.
I'm out of the clear once again.
This is mostly every night. My ex-boyfriend henchmen tracking and running me down. Only because I left his crazy ass and took ten thousand from my account he help putting money in; but he says all of it is his money.
Let me introduce myself; my name use to be Diamond Knox, but just an hour ago I changed it to Tasha Kelly. The reason why I changed is because of Tyrone; my crazy ex. Not only is he my ex, but he is the most powerful drug dealer in Michigan. We dated for five years, ever since I graduated from high school. He was the love of my life, that was before he changed and let the money go to his head. Tyrone started to sleep around and become aggressive; I had to leave before it gotten worse. Before I became my mother; stuck in a relationship with an abuser and a child that is supposed to look up to her for guidance.
As a child I was never loved properly by my parents. My father would always yell and treat me like crap. My mother would never pay attention to me, even when I came home bloody from a fight (mostly everyday). I saw things a child should of never see in my neighborhood. My childhood is what led me to be with Tyrone. He treated me like a queen; he brought me expensive things, he listens and was always there to save the day. He was my savior.
Now he was my nightmare.
"Train to Baltimore is loading." the woman on the intercom said as soon as I stepped inside the building.
Just in time.
I took out my train ticket and went to the lady behind the small desk in front of the two glass doors. I gave her the ticket and a small smile, she returns the smile before checking the ticket. "Have a good night." she said as she handed me back the ticket.
I nod. "You too." I step forward to the doors where I saw the gateway to my new life.

The train ride was long; more like twelve hours long. Luckily the place where I was going was only a block away from the train station.
I put my book bag on and walked along the sidewalk as I hummed my favorite song; Halo by Beyonce. It took about five minutes before I arrived to the human resources building where they give out a list of jobs.
I walk into the building and straight to the human resources office. I set up an meeting two days ago. I had a whole plan of my escape route from my past and Tyrone.
"Ms. Kelly?" The woman behind the wooden desk with a computer beside her ask.
I nod. "Yes. Are you Ms. Ade?"
She nod and smile. "Have a seat. Do you have your social security and the information I asked for?"
My fake social security and other info. Yes.
"Yes, I do." I hand her the folder in my bag.
"Okay, let's take a look."

I walked out the building with a list of jobs; mostly are jobs that requires me to be a receptionist and waitress. "Now I need an apartment." I said to myself.
As I stared at the paper, I step down from the last step and accidentally bumped into something hard. I looked up to see an handsome, dark skin specimen smiling down at me. Trying not to be lost under his stare, I took a step back and cleared my throat.
