Let's just say, this was the worst eight hours of my life. Malik and I was not talking, my back was hurting me from sitting in the seat, I was tired and uncomfortable, I had to pee a lot, and Taco Bell was nasty. I was so glad when I saw the North Carolina sign.
"We're only another hour away from my aunt's house." Malik said; not daring to glance at me.
"Okay." I replied. I looked out my window to only see darkness, since it was one in the morning. "Babe?" I looked at my lover.
"Yes?"
I put my hand over his hand that was set on the gear shift. "I love you."
Malik turned his hand, so our fingers could intertwined. "I love you too."
"I was thinking. Would you be mad if I get another job?"
Malik instantly went tense. "Why would you want to get another job? What's wrong with the one you have now?"
"Malik, I'm going to miss so many days. And my boss is a creep."
Malik sighed heavily. "Okay." He removed his hand from mine.
"Talk to me Malik. Why do you keep hiding your thoughts?"
"I just-" Malik huffed and shook his head. "Don't worry about it."
"Malik, come on. Tell me what you wanted to say."
"I'm not the type of guy that say my thoughts, Tasha. I told you that already." He turned the corner. "Don't ask again."
I once again looked out the window. "Do you truly love me?"
"Of course I do. Why would you ask that?"
"Since after you asked me to marry you, everything between us is like a roller coaster."
"Because you kept important information from me."
I turn my head to him. "Because I was scared that'll you'll leave."
"So keeping your past from me would make me stay?!" Malik raised his voice.
"I thought it would!" I raised my voice as well. "You know what, fuck it."
"No, let's not Fuck it. Since you brought up the subjec-"
"I didn't bring up the subject." I cut him off. "You're the one that brought up my past mistakes. I said I'm sorry, you keep rubbing it in my face all the damn time."
"I'm not rubbing it in your-"
He paused once his car started to jerk. Smoke blew from the sides of the hood. Malik pulled to the side and took the keys out of the ignition.
"Fuck!" Malik screamed. He got out the car with a slam of the door.
I watched as Malik paced back and forth in front of the car; talking to himself. I soon get out the car, only because I didn't want the car to explode with me inside and also to see if the man I love is okay.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
The first question that popped up."No." Malik lifted the hood; making the smoke spread.
"Do-"
"I don't want to talk about it. I just want to get you there and leave."
Leave?
"What happened to the two days?"
Malik took out his phone; ignoring my question.
