Quick Note: Y'all... where do I even begin? Oh, these tears? They're happy tears, I swear!
Just, thank you. So much. Getting to build these scenarios, share them, and engage with everyone who reads has been such a highlight in my life. Thank you all for coming with me on this journey.
So, for one of the last times in this story...
Have fun you sinners!
I never thought I would be here. I mean, I always knew I'd end up in Hell, but I never thought I'd be so lucky. Everything feels so right. And I wouldn't be here if it weren't for-
"Sly vixen." I can hear Husk's voice approaching the lobby. I turn my head and see that he's carrying himself some sort of brown concoction of a drink, and a vodka cranberry for me.
"Not going to watch the bar?" I tease, taking my drink.
Husk takes a seat next to me on the couch and lets out a slight chuckle. "The only one I need to watch out for is Angel. I can see him coming from a mile away." He puts his glass towards me. I clink my glass against his as we both take a sip of our respective drinks.
"Thank you." I say to Husk, catching his attention. "I know I've told you before but thank you." I can't help but smile at my long-term friend. "Things wouldn't have turned out how they did if it weren't for you." I mention.
"You mean if I didn't fail to protect you?" Husk asks. My ears fall to my head, I feel a twinge of sadness bubble up. "If I wasn't an idiot that was addicted to gambling? Addicted so bad that I would jeopardize others? Jeopardize you?" Husk continues questioning.
"If you didn't convince me to keep surviving, Husk." I put my hand over his, trying to pull him from his stupor. "Husk, I probably wouldn't have made it much longer if it weren't for you. You couldn't protect me from everything, you're not all powerful, silly." I look away and back at my drink. "I was so afraid of the day Alastor would find me. If he was searching for me. If he was behind every corner. It wasn't an afterlife to live." I don't want to dwell on this. It's in the past. "But when things got tough, you always encouraged me to keep surviving. Sometimes you had to remind me a bit more harshly than others. But you never judged me and were always rooting for me." My grip on his hand tightens as I smile back at him again. "So, thank you. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for you Husk." It takes a second, but I can see the smile building on his face. "We did it, we survived."
"And we'll keep surviving, sly vixen." Husk grabs my hand back, giving it a slight squeeze. I'm so happy to have him in my afterlife. He's been such a pivotal demon in my story.
I always thought my eternity in Hell would feel like forever. The years would just go by, and they would blend together. But when my daughter is involved, time seems to fly too quickly. She just grows up before my eyes. I swear it was just yesterday that she was struggling to open the fridge and barely saying any words. But now?
"(y/n)!" I hear Angel yell, making my fox ear twitch. Husk and I both sit up from the couch and look over at him. He looks upset as he walks over to me with gusto. "She did it again!" Angel crosses both sets of his arms and taps his foot, obviously irritated.
I sigh, I know what he's referring to. "Emma!" I yell, looking around. Ever since she's started learning more about her powers, she's been a beast to keep track of. I always thought that teenagers would be hard to deal with, but she's not even that old yet!
I watch my twelve-year-old appear from the shadows in the ground. Her hair has grown quite a bit and she's a skinny twig like her dad. But those mischievous (e/c) eyes? Those are all mine. She may not know it, but she has a giveaway when she's done something wrong. She always puts her hands behind her back. I wonder who she learned that gesture from.
